Was catting to this guy earlier. Liked the profile and liked his pics. Conversation was going well but then he went and done it. That one thing that instantly puts me off (surprisingly not a cock pic) he used the word fanny. I almost threw up in my mouth.

What's your instant put off when messaging someone ?

If someone starts talking about someone else. A lot.

I'm not a swinger. I value some discretion. It also doesn't really do anything for me. I can be happy for someone and think great but... I don't know. It's not going to have me leaving a slug trail of arousal in my seat.

If you're talking to someone and you don't have an established friendship, maybe get that first if they're as odd as me. Or check your audience.

Tricky isn't it, I think so much relies on reading the profile and responding in kind, but still easy to miss the spot.

Some profiles will say "tell me what you want to do to me", in which case I guess sex talk is warranted from the off.

Unless someone is going to be explicit about what they want, you're always going to be feeling your way through it to an extent.

Women or couples saying, " single men between 33-49 only".Fact - most men you go with on here will be married, and trust me you may say you can tell but you can't! Also, specifying such age ranges makes no sense. I've met women in their 30's who are 'older in body and mind" than women I've met in their 50's ... So people generalising is a big turnoff!

If anything shows the power women have on a site like this , this post does.

A guy types 1 word that doesn't suit and.....bang. blocked.

I'm not saying it's wrong. It's just the way it is. If a woman has a choice of a hundred men, the slightest thing will push her choice one way or the other. In real life we come across people every day that do / say things we don't like/ agree with. but unlike on here we cant dismis them.

I think it's more likely that some women just don't have the time or desire to give folk the benefit of the doubt or try to decipher meaning in messages when their inboxes are bursting.

But they make it hard for themselves (excuse the pun)

Maybe if they were a little more thoughtful and polite, and used less crass terminology, they'd get a bit further?

I will quite happily dismiss people in real life if they say and do things I find repulsive.

"If anything shows the power women have on a site like this , this post does.

But they make it hard for themselves (excuse the pun)

Maybe if they were a little more thoughtful and polite, and used less crass terminology, they'd get a bit further?

I will quite happily dismiss people in real life if they say and do things I find repulsive."

I dare say he was using 'fanny' as an attempt at using less crass terminology than he usually uses!

I can't stand lefties and cyclists. Wonder why. Tories are the lesser of two evils. Cyclists are just self entitled pricks.

I cycle a lot, but i have to agree, a lot of cyclists are horrendous and you only realise it when you get back behind the wheel of a car.

As for the first bit, i feel sorry for anyone who shows disdain for someone purely because of their political persuasion"

Well since the original comment felt the need to mention Tories for absolutely no reason, I thought I'd put in my two cents.

When their profile either rants about:

How women on here are awful/rude/bitches who never met them. The entitlement can be galling.

Unsolicited humour.

Think about it.

If your very first interaction with someone is them attempting to be funny, then it demonstrates that they value making you laugh more important than they value just talking and listening to you.

You have to ask yourself why this person has taken this initial approach?

You wouldn't got up to a never-met-before canine and immediately start tickling its belly would you ? It might not like it for a start.

Present the hand, let it sniff you, allow it to decide if you are friend, foe or a tasty snack. Tummy rubs might be allowed to emerge later, but going straight in with comedy is insincere and, well, cringe-worthy.

(I hated using a canine analogy for various reasons, but fundamentally we're just animals ourselves and I think we forget that quite a lot of the time. But that's a topic for another thread, I feel).

"Women or couples saying, " single men between 33-49 only".Fact - most men you go with on here will be married, and trust me you may say you can tell but you can't! Also, specifying such age ranges makes no sense. I've met women in their 30's who are 'older in body and mind" than women I've met in their 50's ... So people generalising is a big turnoff!"
