They don't have to be well known faces, just those actors who pop up now and again in roles which suit them so well.
First in my mind is David Dastmalchian.

"Who? "
He has quite a distinctive, creepy look, well suited for those types of roles.
I think he was in one of the Dark Knight movies and The Suicide Squad but I know him from Blade Runner 2049 and one episode of Almost Human with Karl Urban. |

"Keanu Reeves as Johnathan "John" Wick "
Plays a tough character but a true nice guy in real life.
That's sometimes true of actors who play real nasty characters.
For example Robert Englund. Murderous, nightmarish Freddie Kruger but well known as a really nice guy irl. |

"RDJ - Tony Stark
Benedict Cumberbach - Sherlock
I’m afraid I can’t settle for anyone other than Basil Rathbone when it comes to Sherlock Holmes"
It's Jeremey Brett for me |

"Joe Pesci in Goodfellas, Casino and JFK
not forgetting his role in "My Cousin Vinny"
Ah I've never seen it.
Good to see you back on fab "
Thank you.
Is worth a watch, shows diversity in his acting abilities in comparison to the hardcore gangster roles we've known him to play...! |

Charles Dance.
I've loved him in everything I've seen him in and I admire the dedication he puts in to his roles. I loved reading that he learned to gut, skin and clean real deer for his first GOT scene as Tywin Lannister.
Also Tom Hanks in most things. |

He was good too and I think the adaptations had come on a long way by the time he was playing Holmes, so that helped.
Didn’t he die rather young ? |

JK Simmons as J Jonah Jameson in the Spiderman films.
Imagine being so good at a role that they straight up can't cast anyone for the role in a reboot, then they bring you back for the second reboot because no-one can imagine anyone else playing that character. |

Alec Baldwin as the OG Jack Ryan. Sorry, every other male actor after him who tried to be Jack Ryan has simply not matched him in Hunt For Red October.
Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister. It's not like there's a huge pool of dwarf actors to choose from besides him who can match his gravitas!
Eva Green as Vesper Lynd in the Daniel Craig-era Bond series. It shows how significant a character she played and frankly owned to make her a much bigger impact and long lasting legacy in the Bond films than even how Sir Ian Fleming wrote her in his original Bond books. |

"Tom Cruise as Les Grossman in Tropic Thunder
100% this. Les Grossman is my hero "
To be fair that's cheating a bit because Tom pretty much came up with the character himself for himself. He sort of had free reign |

Jeff Bridges in the remake of True Grit, (far and away ten times better than the original), same guy in The Old Man, Kevin Costner in Yellowstone, Forrest Whitaker in King of Scotland (should have got an Oscar for that one), also in Godfather of Harlem. |

"Will Smith is better than anyone else at playing Will Smith."
I think Alfonso Ribeiro who played Carlton Banks in the The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, is a better actor than Will Smith |

Agree with RDJ for Tony stark, Ryan Reynolds Deadpool, Joe Pesci goodfellas, yea but Marisa Tomei is also great in that. If you haven’t seen it, one of the funniest movies ever! In a very cleverly written way. Honourable mention also to Fred Gwynne as the judge!
Christopher Lloyd as doc brown AND max taber in one flew over the cuckoos nest.
Hugh Laurie as House - which leads to one of my favourite character actors, Currie Graham who was perfect as Mark, House’s exes now husband but I just love him in anything, great fun in the mentalist too.
Tim Roth as Cal in Lie to me
Matt bomer in White collar
Michael Keaton as beetlejuice AND Carter in Pacific Heights - he does menacing so well!
Vincent d’onofrio in basically everything I’ve seen him in. Amazing actor

Jack Nicholson in The Shining, there couldn't have been a better actor chosen to play that leading role, even now after forty years that film, although a little dated by today's standards, is still edge of your seat stuff, his menacing looks are chillingly awesome, and there's no better
line than the 'Here's Johny' one when he smashes an axe through the bathroom door! Priceless! |

Incl. McMurphy in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (fab. acting) |
