Ive had a cold for 3 weeks now. Done 2 covid tests which were both negative. The cold isnt really bad, its just dragging on and making me feel super wiped out. Ive been sleeping 10/11 hours a night, and having naps when i can too.
So, do you have any special recommendations for cold remedies i could try? X |

I'm a big fan of hot lemon drinks. I buy a lot of lemons and squeeze out the juice, hot water and sugar to taste - honey would be more beneficial, but I'm not a fan. If I'm really suffering, I add a shot of brandy.
Vicks vaporub is another go -to. And for a cough, at bedtime rub some on clean feet, put on a pair of clean socks and that eases the cough. I've used that on both my daughter's and somehow it worked!
I hope you start to feel better soon.

If you have had a cold for three weeks you don't have to deal with the cold( it's well gone ) but you do want to deal with the the after effects.
While you are waiting for the after effects to go practise the following to deal with exhaustion and snots and throats etc.
Eat nutritious food
Drink plenty of water
Go to bed early without distractions
Limit work and stress
Take decongestants
Lay off booze/drugs/shit food
Basically Eat well, Drink Water, Go to bed.
There are no cures. Relief is minimal.

"Echinacea supplements, loads of water
Hope you feel better soon x"
Any supplements will take at least 3 months to kick in but they could help boost your immune system and make you stronger to fight off future episodes |

Sadly there's no "cure" for the common cold... Colds shouldn't normally last 3 weeks, sounds more like flu. Paracetamol to bring down temperature, plenty of fluids and rest. If your nose is blocked inhaling steam can help |

I think also with the amount you are sleeping you should see a doctor |

Nothing, you just have to ride it out. However olbas oil near your pillow on some tissue (although I just dot a little on my mattress) and rub a little Vicks under your nose helps massively with breathing. |

By the time you get an appointment it will be June and your cold will be long gone. |

OP I'm a typical bloke who refuses to go to the GP unless a leg is hanging off (and only then because it's inconvenient for running).
But - GPs always say if you have cold/flu symptoms for longer than two weeks you should see them. I'm inclined to agree with an above poster in that a common cold would have cleared your system by now and, coupled with the tiredness, you may need assessment.
Look after yourself and feel better soon |

"Honey and lemon in hot water, so nice and it works a treat on the nose and throat and they both are good for you
Miss S x"
My mum swears by this. I can't stand honey though.
I've just ordered sudafed, great if your sinuses are blocked and painful.
Vicks helped a little last night, might try a quick walk later! Mines been coming on all week and hit yesterday, it's no fun |

Beechams. Put 2 sachets in a mug and just half fill with boiling water. Let it cool a bit and knock it back. There is a blackcurrant flavour. A nurse suggested this and I swear by it now. Never fails for me |

You know what neither do I, I can't stand honey! But I think the lemon takes over in that drink so I can't taste it.

Don't blame you
If you do, just a dash of honey and half a squeezed lemon in, you won't even know
Hope you feel better soon!
