So my wife has been chatting with one of her mates about Christmas gifts etc and this lass is gloating a little that her boyfriend got her a brand new Kindle Fire.
My wife asked, "What does it do then?"
The response......
"Erm..I dunno, I can't switch it on!" |

"It's a book with batteries, we have managed thousands of years without them and used good old books.
Don't see the point of them myself."
Except you can't carry a library full of books around in your handbag ... For starters...!,! |

Its like a mini PC! I'll be using mine to watch iPlayer when I'm in work trips. And maybe organise meets.
I find it a lot easier than using my phone as my eyesight is not so good and my fingers are fat. |

The reason I wanted one is because you can pack more shoes in your case in the space you would normally pack books when going on holiday
I've just got the standard One though, not a fancy one |

I don't like them, tried, and sold it. Much prefer to read a real book and turn real pages.
As for carrying a library around, I only read one book at a time, so why would I carry a library lol.
I buy all my books from charity shops, and re-donate them once read. |

My missus bought a regular kindle earlier on this year and loves it. I'm quite jealous actually, I'd love a nice new bit of tech, but I just wouldn't use it. I'm never anywhere where I can't use my laptop and I hate not having a proper keyboard.
As for the OP - it should be seen as an ownership test. If you can't turn it on, you're not allowed to use it!

Very handy for travelling. Instead of taking 5 or 6 books away with me adding to the weight of my luggage, I can take my e-reader which holds hundreds of books and weighs much much less. |
