Register with the council, explain your situation but by law your landlord does need to serve a Notice to Quit which gives you two months. Or go to an estate agents and look for private rented. |

"Thats awefull, but as the op said, you have to be given notice, in writing, that should give you some space to find somewhere else
Good luck Van xx" Sometimes that doesn't apply if you've broken your tenancy agreement, get some advice from your local C.A.B, good luck |

Check your local authorities website and see when they are open next, along with the CAB, Shelter is also another option too |

"Also.... Does the period of notice not depend on furnished/ unfurnished...??
Good luck...."
Not sure to be honest, I thought as private rented, it was a statutory 2 months but will ask when I get to work on Wednesday as we have had furnished properties in the past |

My sister had the same recently however there was also achild involved there, but she still had to go as she was outside of the initial year rental depends a lot on how it's worded after your initial term, check your rental agreement thoroughly at least you will then at least know how long you have to plan
Good Luck |

Hope you get things sorted soon.
I know its no consolation and may sound harsh (its not meant to be harsh in any way) but at least you've got somewhere to stay.

You are a single person, no dependants and no mental health or phyical health issues.. not that I know of anyway so will be classed as a non priority.. If you are staying with a mate fill out a normal housing application.. you will get points for being homeless and sharing..
You can go on your local Housing assocation waiting list.. Or if you have a local charity that deals with single homeless persons they maybe able to help you...Or you can see if there are any f |

flat shares... usually on gumtree and see if there are any landlords directly renting properties as sometimes they do that to avoid using agencies.. |

What is your current set up? If you are renting you have to be given 2 months. And while it might not be the most responsible option, if tthe situation is truly desperate simply not leaving will buy you time. It takes time for a landlord to evict you and even then a court will almost always give you some time to get out. You have more rights legally than your landlord.

Like I said, get yourself registered with the local authority, go to the CAB and/or Shelter and visit and estate agents about private renting, that way you will get a tenancy agreement |

They gotta be some kind of specialist cunts to kick someone out on New Year's Eve. What absolute fucking assholes!
Let's hope the new Homeless LAw in Scotland filters down to the rest of the UK where it is now illegal to leave ANYONE homeless. |

He was staying with friends... Which means he did not have a tenancy agreement which meant that he was tech homeless to start with..It is harsh this time of year to be kicked out... As far as the law I am not sure what they have changed in Scotland.. However I doubt it will be the same here.. The localism act has come into force... However you can become homeless at anytine and for private landlords thay have to give you 2 months notice however in this chap circustances he had no legal entitlement.. His friends were harsh.. |

Have you been paying rent to them? If so, just the payment and exchange of keys stands to serve as a verbal tenancy. A tenancy doesn't have to be written. |

Was contributing to the food bill but not paying actual rent I will have to learn to not get involved with domestic arguments i was sticking up for my female friend so he turned on me and told me to get out well I won't go back there.

It is normally a good idea to stay out of other couples arguments unless of course the dude razed his hand, even then you don't say anything just stamp on his head till there's nothing left but brain matter and bone. Lmfao.
Good luck dude. |

For any agreement to be used in court it must be in writing. Verbal just don't cut it, a verbal agreement lost me nearly £2000 and there was Fuck all I could do about it (legally anyway) as none of it was in writing and signed by both parties. |

Without meaning to sound harsh, if you are crashing at a friends house, arguably not paying your way, even more so if it is over Christmas and you feel that the best way to repay that kindness is to get involved in their domestic then you really only have yourself to blame.

"They should bring a law making expulsion illegal during the winter time as it is in some country "
As a landlord thats crazy yes i accept winter time is especially bad to be have to find new place but in this instance we do not know reasons given for having to leave.
If winter was excluded for eviction it woukd give tenants by this i mean the shite ones chance to stop payment for months. |

Any tenancy can be used in court and doesn't have to be in writing, if there has been an exchange of money and keys there is a tenancy in place and laws there to protect that tenancy. It isn't something I'd recommend but it would stand up. By the sounds of things the OP wasn't paying rent so it would be hard to argue that there was a tenancy there. |

In france from the 1st November to the 15th March you can't ask any tenant to leave due to winter break. But the same law protect the landlord as any tenant who refuse to pay will have his name on the black list and can still be sue by the landlord after the winter break.
The only reason behind it is to avoid people to be in the need of emergency place during the cold season |

Hello mate,
Try looking on line.
I've just seen a great website that advertises people's spare rooms, house shares, etc.
There's loads of pics and rooms to suit all pockets.
I can't believe how cheap some of them are in your area.
Good luck with your search |
