It seems that not a day goes past without another attack by a dog either on a human or another dog. They should bring back the dog licence. Everyone with a criminal conviction should be banned. Everyone caught speeding in a car with a dog should be banned and everyone who applies should be interviewed by a panel of dignatories including a policeman of at least the rank of inspector, a member of the clergy and a local doctor or Parish Councillor.rant over

There’s a similar procedure to adopt an exempted dog

A dog licence isn't going to prevent the actions of the animal should it attack

So should be made to take obedience training so the owner has control and animal trained to understand

At end given a certificate

Maybe we should ban dogs and owners? Cover all bases then! Probably wouldn't notice if we put a bowl of goldfish in charge of the country.

All for banning people when Mother Nature kicks us off the world can turn back into a lovely place again.

I'd also ban rats. Too many bird species have gone extinct because they eat the eggs. I suppose if humans didn't move the rats all about the place though?

Most seem to agree. A dog can be a lethal weapon ..

They are like a firearm and police should visit homes and licence given if appropriate

Apparently an average of 3 deaths per year caused by dogs and over 700 homicides so what’s more dangerous dogs or people????

To be fair, I've never once, in all my years, heard of any dog crashing a car, so, by that measure, they surely must be safer drivers thdn the rest of us.

Maybe thet's why they don't need licenses anymore

Alicante, Spain. (Sometimes in Wales)

There's around 180 deaths per year (Wales and England) from accidental alcohol poisoning. It would make more sense to have a test and licensing system for those who wish to drink alcohol.

For the people who won't or can't pay, what happens to the dogs?

Raising a dog is like raising a child. Its behaviour depends on how much effort you up it. I could make those rat dogs into killers and a Rothweiler into one of the most loving creatures you’ll even meet.

Criminal conviction ?

So i have a criminal conviction so that make me in trustworthy to own a dog ?

Doesn’t it matter what my conviction was for ! ?

A dog isn’t the problem same as the Ferrel teenager

It’s the owner that’s the problem

Do not tar everyone with the same brush !!

Not all dogs and owners are alike

Believe it or not a very very big percentage of dogs and owners are very loving and friendly!

They still have dog licences…… the problem isn’t the dog, it’s the owner! I had a staffie, properly socialised and monitored, he was terrified of small dogs because they kept attacking him, he never once barked or growled at another dog or person outside our home, and when at home only ever at crows, neighbours cat, or anyone who tried climb over the garden fence, currently own a half American Pitbull x Rottweiler, once again, properly socialised and responsible owner, loves other animals and people, but still is never off lead when other people or animals are nearby, because I don’t trust them, recently had a disturbance at my house, the dangerous breed, got scared and hid. When I got my current dog, I made sure to introduce her to the kids in the family and other small dogs when she was 3/4 months, one of the dogs kept latching on to her face, small dog, badly socialised, she just wagged her tail and still wanted to play with him! Although I trust my dog to behave, I never give her an opportunity to prove me wrong.

somerset

its not the breed its the owners ...

all our dogs have been bull breeds all rescued all have had bad past all settle and become the most loving pets you can have

i think no one under 25 should be allowed to own a dog ..it should be licence's and insurance should be the law too ..

the problem is not the dog its alway the owners and people in general ... example we walk our 9 stone boy hes nervous so he on a short lead & mouth guard hes never let off the lead as a running 9stone dog is a weapon in its self hes only off the lead if we are on our own in a secure dog walking area now this is done not to protect people this is done as the idiot who walk there dogs off the lead who cant control them stops there dog being bitten because a dog off the lead will bite one on the lead ...but then these idiot dont realize they are breaking the law ... advice we took from the rspca is body cam so you have proof so thats what we did we brought 2 one for us one for the dog so that anyone tries to claim they were attack can f*ck off he has no interest in attacking anyone protecting yes attacking no..

so ban the stupid humans not the breed .. im all for license and insurance and if you caught with out either the you loses the dog/dogs and then get banned for life from owning one ... dogs just want our love and companionship
