Away for Christmas |
We all have our favourite song, but this isn't so much about that.
This is about which song always hits you emotionally, makes you truely feel something whenever you hear it. It doesn't have to be a "great" song, or even can be universally hated but has meaning for you. The main thing is that it makes you feel something that no other does.
For me it's two, for similar reasons.
My Immortal - Evanescence
Wherever you will go - The Calling
Both have their own unique place for me, but also their lyrics apply in a similar way. |

Linkin Park - One More Light
And for completely different reasons...
30 Seconds to Mars - Closer to the Edge
No, no, no, no, I will never forget
No, no, I will never regret
No, no, I will live my life

I'm liking this. It's exactly as I thought, a good variation.
"favourite song" can be a bit too samey at times. Lots of similar songs mentioned. But when it's attached strongly to an emotion its far more personal and unique. |

Forever Autumn - Justin Hayward
Room At the Top - Tom Pretty & The Heartbreakers
The Story - Brandi Carlisle
Silver Springs - Stevie Nicks
Could sob my heart at any one of these, for different reasons |

Wherever I lay my hat |
I'm a bit of a heartless wench with roots in The Valleys. Particular songs invoke strong memories and emotions - good and bad - but the only thing that sends shivers down my spine and can have me bursting with joy or sobbing uncontrollably is Cwm Rhondda. Gets me every time I hear it |

The Carpenters ~ I won’t last a day without you.
“I can take all the madness the world has to give, but I won’t last a day without you”
I really resonates with me right now … |

Well fuck me, I logged on to share a song with you all and this thread is laid out for me.
Fate.

Starts out odd, don't let that put you off, it'll make sense at the end.

Likewise. I only moved as far as Newport, but that hymn, or just the tune, feels like childhood to me. |

I cannot listen to “well did you ever” anymore. It was my great grandads favourite song and he recorded a version at a studio for a birthday experience. My aunt used that at his funeral and every time I hear the original I have to go take a breather. |

Sorry to cheat a little bit, because the original post asked for a song, but the piece of music that gets me even after hearing it many, many times is the adagio (4th movement) Mahler’s fifth symphony.
Sorry, ignore me, carry on with the thread |

To be fair I should have said song or music track, just didn't expect anyone to say otherwise.

Amsterdam,Jacques Brel, live. The single most heartfelt, raw performance I have ever seen.
'Perdonno, Contessa', when the Count begs his wife to forgive him for chasing after the young servant, as he realises who he has truly loved all along. From The Marriage of Figaro.
Spem in Alium, when all the voices join together for the first time.
Exit Music (For A Film).

Yes!! Spem in Alium - I believe it’s for 40 voices and the absolute correct way of listening to it is in the centre of a circle made up of 8 ground of 5 voices each. Exquisite!
Surround sound 16th century style. |
