Tebay might have good food. But when it's busy and over crowded it's awful.

The toilets stink and there are queues for everything.

Also the Tebay and Gloucester service are owned by the same business so there basically the same thing.

Not for wheelchair users, no. They've put the blue badge bays where there are no dropped kerbs and the disabled toilets are too small to get a wheelchair inside and shut the door. The picnic area is on shingle (wheelchair's nemesis).

Tebay is way over priced. When driving to Scotland, I give them a miss and pull off the Motorway and into the Gretna Green Outlet Village; it's another 50 miles but I think it's better value and choice plus it offers some great retail therapy.

Fleet on the M3 as I recall.

With most folks giving such positive vibes it makes me think of when people used to make a weekend trip to a services when motorways were new and a lot emptier.

Maybe you all could start a club where you meet for a social at the services of the month

Maybe the family that owns Tebay would like to address the wheelchair access issues? No drop kerbs where the blue badge parking is so you have to push in the live traffic. Disabled toilets too small for a wheelchair to be inside and close the door. Picnic area on shingle which is impossible for wheelchairs to push on. I raised these things about a year ago with them, I wonder if they've been solved?

Westmorland on the M6 - stopped there many years ago and it was fantastic.

More recently Gloucester services on M5 - far greater experience than the standard franchise clones that others provide which is mostly shit, fast food at a premium price.

"Do any of the Motorway services have those connecting flyovers where you could sit and watch the traffic thunder past you?

Fleet on the M3 as I recall.

With most folks giving such positive vibes it makes me think of when people used to make a weekend trip to a services when motorways were new and a lot emptier.

Maybe you all could start a club where you meet for a social at the services of the month

Call it the social services thread? "

Oh bravo sir, that's terribly good

Auto Shenanigans, it’s a YouTube channel and they brought out a series of videos going to every service station in the UK.

It’s actually not a bad watch fellas (I’m saying fellas as I don’t expect the women on here to be sad enough to watch YouTube videos of service stations )

As a child I loved Motorway services. I thought they had a bit of excitement like the departure lounge at the airport. I mean you have to have a motorised vehicle to get to them.

Obviously as I’m now an adult this attraction no longer interests me, that’s why I’ve commented a few times and recommended a YouTube channel about them.

As a young boy I got left at the service's once on The A1.

In back of the car sisters asleep parents stop to get fuel mum for a wee.

I got out went to toilet, they didn't know.

I came out car and family gone!!

This was in the 70's no mobile phones then.

Started crying not one fucker came to see if I was ok.

About an hour later parents car screeched into the services mum jumped out hysterical in tears.

I was happy as at that point had gone back in the loo for another wee wee and found a packet of condom's in the machine unopened obviously.

I opened them and was happily pinging them round the service area like rubber bands not a clue what they where for.

Leigh Dalamere is ok but has no individulality about it (another souless clone services with Burger King etc). It has an extra bonus of an "Oriental Themed Kitchen" serving factory made crap constantly reheated day after day until the chuck in the bin date.

I do miss places where staff made food and it was on a plate with knifes and forks - why is that so hard to have these days?

"Tebay might have good food. But when it's busy and over crowded it's awful.

The toilets stink and there are queues for everything.

Also the Tebay and Gloucester service are owned by the same business so there basically the same thing. "

Same family so it makes a big difference to a huge company

"Only southern softies doubt the charms of Tebay. I mean, I get it. It’s a long way beyond your comfort zone. But once you’ve tried their sausage …"

Tebay is only good as so quiet and and frequented by those renowned for being tight, Wetherby is likely the best for sheer variety of choice.
