"The best natural singer in my opinion is Karen Carpenter, not too bad on the drums either. Hey snap Yes she was a world class drummer" Good choices are people with great taste. You also named Glen Campbell (underrated guitar player) and Joni Mitchell. Both I got to appreciate later in life with the albums Dog eat Dog by Joni Mitchell Ghost on the Canvas by Glen Campbell
"Etta James Dusty Springfield Sam & Dave Dean Martin Nat King Cole Aretha Franklin Tom Jones " I don't recognise the first three. You'll have to introduce me to their work

"Steve Marriott. You can end the thread there. " Phenomenal voice, Tin Soldier with Marriott on lead and PP Arnold on backing vocals is probably the best vocal combination ever

Both I got to appreciate later in life with the albums Dog eat Dog by Joni Mitchell Ghost on the Canvas by Glen Campbell " Yes he's a fantastic guitar player, should be up there with the greats, sadly, forever underrated. I like Gentle On My Mind. Check out his playing in this, it's mind blowing how good he was. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4PEf7yYCZE

"Floor Jansen from Nightwish....her performance of Ghost Love Score at Wacken 2013 (it's on YouTube) is utterly mesmerising." She's nowhere near as good as Tarja live. And I've seen all three of their singers
| |||
"Karen Carpenter Glen Campbell Joni Mitchell " Great choices
| |||
"Floor Jansen, lead singer for a band called Nightwish, (a style called "Symphonic rock")....my good, that woman can really sing! If you really want to hear her in full flow, Find the song "Ever Dream" (live)...or "Alpenglow" (again, live) be prepared to be be rocked!" Actually, to hear her give it some balls, try listening to "The Greatest Show on Earth"....but be warned, it's 21 minute long, it tells the story of the formation of the world, and our eventual appearance on it...skip to approx 6minutes and 30 secs for the singing to start properly.

"Inspired by the singers who can't sing thread. Who do you feel actually can sing and is naturally gifted for this? How many people can you name off the top of your head that won't be Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston? My top choice would be Ronnie James Dio. Even better live than in studio. Best pipes ever! Over to you." Oleta Adams.. Bill withers... Marvin gaye... Hozier... Steve marriott..
"Kelly Jones (Stereophonics). Amazing voice, sounds even better live " Yes.. Great voice. Of course Freddie Mercury was OK too

"Jack Black. His voice is immense! " Oh shit how did I forget Jack. Despite being loud and a character he still ends up under the radar.

"Jack Black. His voice is immense! Oh shit how did I forget Jack. Despite being loud and a character he still ends up under the radar. " I think his general jokiness and frivolity mean people don't take him seriously, but he's absolutely fabulous live (as is Kyle Gass). I've seen The D live twice and both times, they were epic. Going to see them again in London in June!

"Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) takes metal vocals to the next level. __ Lana Del Rey has such a seductive and enchanting voice __ There's also a group on YouTube called Postmodern Jukebox who cover pop songs in a jazz style and they have some amazing vocalists. " Postmodernism jukebox are great

"Floor Jansen from Nightwish....her performance of Ghost Love Score at Wacken 2013 (it's on YouTube) is utterly mesmerising. She's nowhere near as good as Tarja live. And I've seen all three of their singers " Tarja can definitely sing but of the three she's my least favourite. She can only sing in one style and gets quite boring after a while. Annette bought some fun to the band and Floor can sing pretty much any style and wipes the floor with the other two. MrWho.
