What do you like and dislike about the area you live in?
Jump to: Newest in thread
Like? So much. It is 80% rural, the most of all the Home Counties, with beautiful woods, rivers, and hills to explore. It has incredible history, from palaeolithic times right up to now. The city itself is one of the most beautiful, and has an incredible panoply of architecture, music, art, museums, bookshops, etc, for its size. It is ancient but never old, because every year it is refreshed by young, excited, idealistic people.
Dislike? It's too far from the sea, too expensive, and too Tory - but that is true of rural places almost everywhere in England. |

It is a horribly nice place to live.
Everything is close by.
It would have to be a very good reason to move..
Either an incredibly well paid job, a very amazing woman, or a move abroad. Otherwise, no reason to move at all. |

I love the sea the way it crashes against the rocks, the restaurants las iguanas, visto, i love the beaches in dorset, i love the diversity of the population.
I don't love the lack of shops, the hills, the distance of things |

I live around 10 minutes drive from the sea and around 3 minutes drive from the M4, both depending on traffic. That and the fact that there are plenty of shops and pubs around is great, but the downside is almost all is to far for walking. |

I feel I'm lucky to live here, apart from our accent.
We're pretty much in the middle of everywhere here and transport is good. 2 big cities and an airport within 20 miles. Oh, and an elite football club 6 miles away... |

i hate that the place where i ran to heal, is a place where im hurt.
i hate that it is lonely.
i hate that it's far.
i hate i can't leave.

Love that even though its a town just five minutes driving you'll find yourself in the countryside.
Hate that because of the rail link its become a commuter town so house and rental proces have gone through the roof and becoming completely unaffordable based on the wages earnable here.

Like - semi rural, but within short distance of Manchester and other places with interesting stuff to do.
Dislike - our main town centre is now a complete s***hole and an eyesore. The local "village" high street is becoming trendy but most of the cafés, shops and restaurants are not wheelchair accessible, so we end up driving to Manchester for everything. |

Like: There is always something to do! Never bored. Very interesting people to meet. Fairly green for London.
Dislike: The wall of traffic that is only penetrable by cycling or scooting or walking or River Ferry? The shopping is the pits. Nothing is ever on the shelf. I just had to buy baking soda from Amazon because none of the supermarkets or smaller local shops near me had it. |

"Love the location and the quiet.
Hate that a night out in Newcastle means £45 taxi home... or an hour on bus as I won't drink and drive."
Aww we love the night bus and the night tube in London. You are half d*unk/half asleep anyway so that hour goes by really quickly. |

Like - house very cheap, can walk a few minutes and be in miles of fields with streams for the dog to go in.
Dislike - nothing much else here especially for youngins , half the pubs shut since 20 years ago and ones left are full of underage youngins they let in just for the business |

To like: the scenery, it’s stunning, only 8 miles from the sea and the same from the hills
To dislike: Mainly the town I’m in. It’s ok if you want hairdressers, charity shops and takeaways but anything more than that you’ve to go to Dundee or Aberdeen 30-40 miles each way |

There's nothing to like. Every neighbour likes to take drugs. Every neighbour likes to drink excessive amounts. Every neighbour likes to argue and have physical fights. They like machetes, bottles whatever they can get their hands on. The kids throw eggs at windows, I'm sure the word c u n t was taught in school. The police come in fours. The doctor won't do house visits here. I could go on...

I live in one of the most amazing historical cities in the world surrounded by hills on one side, sea on the other with adventure on every door step.
But I also live in one of the poorest areas of that same city know for drug, knife and gun crime where people go without just to feed their children.
I love my city, but it could do So so much more to help those less fortunate.

"Too many pubs and clubs nearby, why do d*unks walk down the residential streets sighing at 3am when the next street along has no one there trying to sleep, gits
Maybe use a pan of water "
That’s really tempting, caught one last year peeing as he walked, hitting all the doors, they’re gross |

It's a nice enough area. Affordable. Very convenient for shops and getting around. Pretty good public transport. It's a small city surrounded by countryside, so you can get to the great outdoors fairly easily.
I like it here on the whole. Plus I grew up here so I'm used to the accent |

Nice area, lots of transport connections. Community is important where I am.
Manchester has most of what you want in a city without the size or expense of London. It's also very friendly.
I live very close to two schools, and I wish they'd stop screaming blue bloody murder twice a day. |

I live close to The Dartford Crossing, so handily placed for Gatwick and Stansted for holidays, and London for work. I love my house and my neighbours are good. Otherwise nothing much, as far as the town is concerned, it’s where I am currently and nothing more. |

Best bit: I have fields, sheep, hills and the gorgeous Pennines literal minutes from my front door (I mean technically we live in the Pennines but you know what I mean)... But I'm still only an hour from Manchester.
Worst bit: the small town mentality and how some people are stuck in the 70s when it comes to things like human rights, race and sexuality

Likes; I live in the heart of a nice village, 5 mins walk from the sea.
Dislikes; none!! My only gripes are with neighbours- I own my flat & the tenants either side of me don't have any pride in their environment |

That's one of the things I dislike about where I live. One of my neighbours have let the property go down hill to say the least. |

I like that it's cheap. The cost of living here is super low. I love my job here. My favourite people and my oldest and most supportive friends are here.
I dislike that it's at least an hour's drive to the nearest club. That most people on fab in the area are single men that do not understand what swinging is or read profiles. And public transport here is shockingly bad. |

It’s a lovely market town, good links to Manchester and Liverpool, nice areas for walking. Plenty of coffee shops and a really well reviewed pub that has all sorts bands playing at the weekend.
On the other side ….
It’s a place everyone knows everyone and their business |

Like: nice area, fairly quiet, good access to A roads and M1 and slightly out the city without anything being inaccessible.
Dislike: it's a new build area so everywhere looks like a building site with more builds planned so it just looks a bit crap. |

Lol! the night bus terminates where I live in Zone 3. So I just have to go back 3 stops or walk 10 mins. lol whichever is quickest after I had a kip. |

"It’s not where I’d like to be, really. And the whole area has really deteriorated over the last 10-15years.
Plus my neighbours are c***s. "
I thought only Londoners suffered from bad neighbours and everywhere else is super friendly.
Meh maybe Londoners just accept it more that our neighbours will be bad. |

Loads of things here to do no matter what your interests are.
Worst part:
Sometimes I have to keep going round and round and round and round to get anywhere...... |
