For winning a bike race? Far more people are deserving of the honour than him. "
actually... if you use chris hoy and steven redgrave as your comparisons....
he had as many total medals as hoy, and as many golds as redgrave.... |

stop, sir Alex Ferguson, you can be such a hypocrite at times wishy.
Knighthoods are given for so many reasons.
For winning a bike race,no other Brit has ever won,I think more than justified. |

"danny boyle turned his down.
I wondered what happened to him... his was the one name i was expecting on the list...
any idea what he was offered???"
Those lists are kept quite hush hush. He did a R4 Front Row interview a few weeks ago where it was hinted he might be Sir Danny and he demurred.
I think a lot of people would have been very shocked if he had accepted.
Benjamin Zephania also refused his when he was offered it a few years back. |

The curious part is that Bowie accepted the Legion D'Honneur from France a few years earlier. |

not just for winning A bike race but for being a leading olympian over his 12 years as olympic competitor he has become our most successful olympian ever!.
he did manage to win a few bike races (6-7 day tours)though this year and the tour de france was indeed one of them when he beat 220 other riders to became the first british rider to do so. |
