More reports of taxi drivers not picking up a fayre if the customer has a blind dog. The latest ones paid damages reported as spending the booty on go pro cameras to trap ever more taxi drivers..

Where these buggers cyclists before they lost their sight ?

A blind dog or a guide dog?

Several taxi drivers wouldn’t take me when I was fleeing dv because I had my dogs with me, not that any of them are guide dogs.

Taxi drivers who refuse guide dogs should lose their licences.

It's a depressing state of affairs when the visually impaired feel the need to use go-pros to capture discriminatory behaviour

Dog owners should name and shame these drivers then make their dogs wee on the back seat next time they get a taxi.

Your use of language suggests to me that you think that the blind person is at fault here.

Is that what you think Tom?

Easy solution here ..

Cabs licenced to take dogs..

The blind pay a little more but the cab is dog friendly

It was a £45 fare and they’re house trained, plus I had already explained I had them with me and I was leaving a dv situation

The poor cabbies or the poor woman that was left behind?

I’m usually a fan of Tom’s, don’t make me change my mind

Visually impaired people should not pay more, it is a legal requirement to carry them and guide dogs. But I think dog friendly cabs for a small extra charge is a good idea.

FFS Tom

Guide Dogs are extremely well trained and will not damage the vehicle or maul anyone.

I think they should have taken his licence away and made him oay to retrain.

Refusing transport to someone who is blind or visually impaired because they have an assistance dog is illegal.

I've been leading a one man campaign against use of the term 'rescue dog' when people clearly mean 'rescued' dog.

Now it looks like a similar confusion of nomenclature is happening with assistance dogs for the blind (and others).

Mind you, I can remember when taxis had a blind you could pull down so the driver couldn't see what was going on in the back (with or without a dog being involved).

The equality act 2010 states that nobody can be refused service because they have a guide dog. This includes taxis, public transport, cafes etc

Im going to make it my business to find one of those cabs then leave the ‘holy trinity’ of bodily fluids on the back seat!! And a little card ‘ courtesy of Fidos owner!’ Ya dick!! People with visual disabilities have enough to overcome in a world where not enough adaptation and concession to assist them is done without then being penalised for having a guide dog. Do people with mobility issues have to pay extra for their wheelchairs ? If they do I expect it’s actually illegal under disability legislation ( bound to be someone who knows for sure on here!)

"Didn’t you do this one last week Tom? #itsallrehashednews"

Velvet, Tom has repeated the same issue but the story has literally grown arms and legs. In the new story, the potential passengers said that with any compensation they will buy go pro cameras to catch other taxi drivers. Is setting traps as luring taxi drivers a good ploy.

We have seen this behaviour before in cylists with go pro cameras deliberately riling car drivers to get a reaction then post the footage ..

Where will this end.

Possibly these so called victims are also cyclists

Not sure how they’re going to operate these cameras as both them and their dogs are apparently blind, so can’t see the viewfinder

I don’t think the dogs can ride bikes either, regardless of any visual impairment

Has anyone considered that the term blind might refer to the persons trade as in ‘ hes the blind guy!’ Could mean a man who supplies a variety of window blinds? Think this further complicates an already difficult issue - but im still going to hunt someone down and sort out their taxi with a ‘ 20 second makeover’

Go pro camera. Literally no user involvement, beyond turning it on.

Usually used by skateboarders, mountain bikers, sky divers etc to record their activities.
