My Dad in Jersey started future proofing in the 1970s and put many packages of it in the loft where they also stopped cubic feet of air from freezing! Most of it got shipped across the Channel twice as I used to bring packs back here with me until fairly recently. The only thing which gave away its age was the apricot colour which was popular at the time. He also invested in tinned sardines which he reckoned had a very long shelf life and tasted better with age. Had to be in olive oil not tomato sauce, which would have reacted chemically. | |||
