I am in NYC twice a month at least. I like it! especially now that “street entertainers” are confined to a single area and you’re not pestered anymore.

Foodwise, there is the famous Joe’s pizza or the El Numero Uno tacos- long queues in both but very fast moving!

Obviously there are many other places you can go in NYC apart from Times Square. I recently went on the Staten Island Ferry (free and a short Subway ride away) and the skyline views took my breath away… I never tire of New York!

We've been to NYC a few times. For weddings, transiting to other places in the US and driven from NYC to Boston, Vermont, Montreal a few times.

There is no redemeing qualities to it in our opinion. Except to view the city skyline from Hoboken in NJ (which is a short metro ride away) the rest of it was hugely underwhelming.

If youre viewing on a phone, very top of your screen, 3 dots.

Tap on the dots and you'll get a drop down menu. Very top, above the menu is a "bookmark" star.

"Add to home screen" from the menu might work too, never tried it though.

I left my phone on a bench in times square and next day I happened to ask in the Starbucks near by it if it had been handed in and was shocked to find it had been. Two months later did same thing in local library and some toad in next town had found it and wanted money to give it back.

Exactly this!!!

I kinda thought it would be sort of like trafalgar Square or like Leicester Square… pedestrianised, not sure what else!

It was/is a rectangle for a start! Just a road with loads of flashing lit up bill boards

Least piccadilly Circus has a cool fountain

Best thing about New York is the Russian Baths in the east village.,I’ve never had saunas so hot or plunge pools so cold and you can be flailed in the Sauna with all kinda of branches & leaves. Never had anything quite like that anywhere else

The question was about Bookmarking.

You're talking about finding recent threads via the green arrow.

Bookmarking is forever, green arrow is good for 35 threads.

And Bookmarking is hardly complicated. 2 touches with a finger.

The only time Times Square is useful is on New Year’s Eve…. And when I want to catch the 7 train home or to flushing

Other than that…. It’s basically Trafalgar Square without the statues…

You go through it to get to somewhere else like 42nd street or Chinatown or penn station.. you don’t stop there!!!

Or did you have a bad experience with the Times Square Elmo!!

I was at Times Square for new year years ago and it was the most anticlimactic experience ever! Just hours of standing around, with barely any entertainment and scared to even have a drink of water never mind booze as you can't get to a loo for hours! Then the tiny wee ball drops, everyone cheers then just goes home! I'm used street parties in Glasgow which were very very different!

When l was in Times Square Sex in the City was being filmed so we hung around , A well dressed young lady next to me purchased 3 apples from a street vendor, threw 2 away and kept the third, l politely asked her why, she said there was little time for lunch ,too busy ,so buying 3 she got the best apple , summed New York up for me . San Fransisco so laid back compared.

"Wow what a let down!

I've been thinking about going there.

May I ask why it was such a let down ?"

Its all a let down and very over priced. we went med December.

Time Square is just that a Square with lots of advertising boards like Piccadilly circus.

Statue of liberty is cool but you only see it from a boat un less you want a helicopter ride.

Empire State building its a good view on a good day so pay when you get there don't get huseld in to pre buying by the street sellers.

9/11 memorial you will need to pre book on line and when we where there the que was 4 hour in the rain.

Cost well one Italian we went to on 42nd street was good but a Pizza and a bottle of red was $50 plus gratuity.

For me not worth it till the pound dollar is back to $1.5 to £1

LA is one of those places where you really need a car to get around.. NYC is definitely a subway and bus town…

Where do I hang out.. the ex pats tend to have places in Brooklyn, there are some brilliant stake houses .. other than that I adore hanging out in and around Greenwich village and around NYU.
