Dirty Harry the sequel
Jump to: Newest in thread
Regardless of the exact contents of his revelations and probably more significantly the media portrayal of them. Does anybody else feel a little uncomfortable that he seems an untrustworthy family member, colleague, friend? I mean it seems that anybor every conversation had with him or Mrs Harry is up for putting in the public eye.
Isnt one of the first rules of family or friendship that you don't wash your dirty linen in public? Or of army officer training that discretion is needed? Today's offering is a conversation about a dress? Come on Harry do the decent thing. |

I'm more concerned about the state of the country under the tories than I am about one over privileged family rowing in public. If this was a family with a less fortunate background, someone just down the street, the reactions would be very different. |

I find it interesting, and I'm not directing this comment specifically at you OP as it has been a recurring thought across multiple threads on here and elsewhere on social media, but I do wonder how many people regularly read biographies?
Many of them, or at least the ones i read, criticise people. Often quite brutally. Often quite clearly burning bridges in the process. While other people are recalled in a much more positive light. Its the nature of the beast.
Obviously the media are focusing on the people he's slated, and that distorts things from a public perception, non of us have read it yet the media have convinced us it is one long hate fuelled diatribe against everyone he has criticised, I doubt that is the case though. |

You make a very good point. Every autobiography I've read with possibly one or two exceptions criticises family, friends and acquaintances. |

I think people are responding to what he has said in his many TV interviews promoting his book. |

But given you haven't read gos book, how have you concluded that he is untrustworthy? Because he is telling hos story?
Which as my earlier post said doesn't seem untypical of an autobiography.
So I'm guessing some people might be concerned about what he's said, others will possibly see the truth on what he's said and admire him for speaking up.
An obvious comparison to all the negative comments is that he us clearly still close and on good terms with hos cousins (who coincidentally grew up with the media hounding their mother and who have both had negative articles about their appearance and fashion sense published in the same papers attacking Harry and his wife long before their father was disgraced), I doubt he speaks negatively of either of them in the book but Harry and his cousins get on great isn't the scandal the tabloids want to push is it? |

He was asked in the ITV interview about why he is discussing private family business when the Royal Family make no comment.
He said they leak stories and make comments via 3rd parties all the time, true or not. And they would prefer if he and Meghan shut up and said nothing. But why should they?
All he's doing is telling his own story on his own terms.

Harry arranges the interviews Nd chooses to do them and choose what he says. Nobody else makes it up. The media of course lap it up and have a field day. That's how. Now if he chose not to write about or discuss family secrets and business. Then he may be more trustworthy. Can you imagine in this site. If you met someone and they spilled all the details in the media? Wouldn't trust them again would you? |

I'm going to loop back to my original point, do you read biographies? Is it normal for biographies to be critical of other people? Are press tours normal and are questions ficussongbonnthe juicy bits normal?
I'm not sure how valid your fab analogy is, one bevause the press would have zero interest and 2 because the nature of fab meets is that discretion is both expected and assumed? |
