Will be both.
They get unreasonable numbers of messages to keep track of, but also some will look at your profile first, decided, and then not open the message if they are not interested. |

I don't know why everyone flatters the women . I get a fair few messages myself .. admittedly it's from people wanting to bum me or tell me I'm a prick ...but it's not just women with largely unread inboxes |

We have been known to send the odd message. By which I mean occasional, not something bizarre.
