Away for Christmas

Right so this movie seems to be getting a lot of praise.

The cast is great, it's an interesting and fairly enjoyable watch. However it is getting some serious praise that I just can't figure out why - there are so many things that just fall flat of what they were trying to achieve. HIGHLY predictable in terms of story, but pulls a few "okay then" moments.

I saw the trailer a few weeks ago .... couple of months to be exact AND from the short trailer I assume swanky folk with dosh go to dine at the latest 'in' restaurant not realising that they are eating people and they are about to become THE menu.

am I right....... if so I don't need to go and see it.

Can't say due to spoilers either way.

So many films are hyped up beyond their actual worth while other gems get overlooked - it seems like there is a momentum behind them which no-one wants to diverge from. The same thing happens with the big awards.

Where the flamboyance of flamingos live

I went thinking it would be a load of rubbish but I actually enjoyed it . The acting is brilliant I’d recommend it.

You can say. You already gave your opinion on it in your O.P. and called it highly predictable......

As it unfolds yes, you begin to see where it is going to end up early on.

Much different than announcing what happens to those who may want the experience for themselves.

I thought the OPS comment about not being able to say refered to the plot line and didn't want to give any spoilers although, the post to which the OP refers appears to have done that anyway.

I really liked it.

I thought the acting was great, and it was unpredictable and went in a different way than I imagined after seeing the trailer. I love when a movie does simplicity well.

I won't say too much more to avoid spoilers, but I liked the message it put across. I could be biased because I love Ralph Fiennes but with the way the world is today I thought it was definitely worth the watch.

Wasn't that a Tales of the Unexpected episode?

I thought it was excellent. I interpreted it as a satirical critique of middle class people their vacuous petty bourgeois values.

We've literally just finished watching it and I was going to start a thread (thank god for the search function!).

Loved it. Original and very well acted.

Time to head to the kitchen now and decide what to eat tonight.
