Here it my tips on it and how I do it as well as I have started my slow cut, take your time losing the weight, point 5 to one percent of your weight per week, that is more than enough, the slower you lose the weight the more likely you are to keep the weight off, not only that, faster weight loss can result in a decrease in muscle a slower metabolism, less energy, increased hunger, as well as declining test levels none of which you want to experience, the slower you lose the weight the better, slower than the last time.
How do you go on about it when losing weight? |

Generally I just stop eating biscuits, cakes and chocolate, cuttung out all of those empty calories is highly effective.

I cut out the snacks and "treats" and lessen portions but do tend to go all out rather than a slower approach. 3.5kg in 4 weeks typically, about twice a year.
I have a very physical job so sometimes a calorie binge is needed.
My biggest problem is I can resist everything except temptation so it creeps back.
Also, why can you lose weight but not change the shape? Same wobbly bits but smaller? |

I guess it depends what body fat percentage you’re at and aiming to get to.
For me results came only by changing my relationship with food and now it’s pretty effortless, I just add a bit extra fat in winter to keep warm |

Having tried various things over the years. I prefer a fast cut to start. The quick weight loss results help motivation stay high.
Then you can eat maintenance calories add desired weight rather than constantly being in a deficit for 3-4 months.
But it’s all about different people finding the most effective way for them. |

This, though since I stopped drinking alcohol I've found it far easier to maintain weight. If I do need to lose some cutting out the crap and a few fasted bike rides diesvthe job quite quickly.
I do recognise its a lot more complex for many people |

After yo-yo dieting, doing weight watchers/slimming world/atkins/keto/clean eating/dropping carbs/veganism since forever and none of them working longterm for me, I finally got to grips with controlling my weight and losing 5 stones around 4 yrs ago simply by eating whatever I like but not going over 2000 cals, exercising and loads of walking |

I’ve done the same , breakfast, no lunch, evening meal. A couple of gins on the weekend , a bar of chocolate a week and I’ve lost 13 pounds since December 1st
Another 10 and I will be the lowest I have been since I gave up rugby
I bought a pair of 501 jeans in 36” and hung them on my wardrobe door , I try them on every Wednesday to see if I can fit into them comfortable, getting very close and the extra motivation that gives me is better than sex ???? |

-Good healthy lifestyle
-Healthy food, no need to hard diet as long as food is full of right nutritions( smaller portions helps)
- some form of exercise, even 30 min walk a day is better than nothing.
-cut out junk food, take aways, sweets
-cut out fizzy juice
- and most importantly, cut out booze or reduce it. For example: lager, beer, wine, coctails and change mixers to slimline
Just my thoughts

I’ve lost 5 stones through portion control, ensuring a balanced diet and allowing myself something on a Saturday.
It’s stayed off for sure, taken almost a year to lose it and yet still got another 3 to go. |

To go from wobbly to heavily muscular and solid. You already have enough fat so don't eat anymore of it. Fasting all day, then allow 1hr to eat and do not eat anything outside of this time. While doing this, hit the weights hard!! Allow aching muscles to recover for 1-2 days so alternate which areas of the body you are working on so while your chest is hurting, you can do legs or back etc. Follow this for 1yr and you will be unrecognisable. I was fat all through young life but look at me now |

I rejoined slimming world end of August and I'm half a pound away from a 2 stone loss. It has been slow and steady, I need rhe accountability of been we8ghed each week. Have done it vefore and gave up after a few weeks, this time around is different.
I've realised it's a lifestyle change its not a quick fix and I have done rhen all from lipotrim, dukin, keto, Atkins.
I now plan my food for the week, write the food plan out and stick on fridge. I do the food shop. Batch cook my dinners for the week. I know what I'm having each day and if I feel like changing it around I have other options on my food plan.
I still have something nice ( not calling it a treat as think that's why I'm an emotional eater) if I want it but within reason.
I'm also doing 3 gym classes a week and working on increasing my daily steps.

I lost a stone last year, mostly through illness.
I did manage to end my toxic affair with Cherry Lucozade, which helped, and I've started eating more actual food than kitkats and Belgian buns.
My stomach is feeling better so I'm trying things again I had to stop eating; like green leafy veg. |

Decrease intake and increase activity it’s simple.
Most people are over weight because they are to lazy to do anything about it, including me!
I can do all the exercise in the world, but when it comes to trying to eat healthy, I give up at the first hurdle. As everyone always say, losing weight is 90% diet, I am getting no where! |

It’s probably about the same percentage mental discipline. Get your head in the right place and you’re halfway there.
Find a target you want to achieve then go for it. Motivation is good but discipline is better |

Motivation and discipline is there most of the time. I can turn crisp, biscuits and cake down all day, never eat fast food or take away. I hate shopping and it’s to easy to fill the trolly with freezer food then try and plan my meals.
I exercise every day so I know it is 100% diet.
I’ve swapped white bread for 50/50 and stopped sugar in my tea and fizzy drinks, cut back on alcohol, done the easy things. |

Slow definitely best if got a lot to loose
I prefer an aggressive approach but it’s only ever to knock a tiny bit of fat off maybe 2 weeks max at 800 cals all from protein and walking ever day off from weights.
Fantastic for rapid results but not sustainable for very long |

"Here it my tips on it and how I do it as well as I have started my slow cut, take your time losing the weight, point 5 to one percent of your weight per week, that is more than enough, the slower you lose the weight the more likely you are to keep the weight off, not only that, faster weight loss can result in a decrease in muscle a slower metabolism, less energy, increased hunger, as well as declining test levels none of which you want to experience, the slower you lose the weight the better, slower than the last time.
How do you go on about it when losing weight?"
Part of the reason I'm fat is psychological and due to medication. I'd say I only ate correctly and exercised correctly for 5 years of my entire life.
the rest of the time I either under-ate, over ate or binge ate.
Slowly coming off the med and will try to get a health balance again. |

exercise alone can't make up for a poor diet , crap food and / or portion size. I've done some form of exercise or sport 5 or 6 times a week since jan 1st. barely lost a stone.
Bloody metabolism is stupidly low.
Often getting hr of 50bpm.
I've cut out my usual sweet stuff , smaller portion size .
Come to realise it needs to be a permanent change |

I find losing slowly is unmotivating but I suppose it depends how much you are trying to lose.
Best way is to eat anything you like but much smaller portion so you don't feel deprived. I hate cutting out food groups |

I sort out my head first. That's the most important thing.
Do away with this idea that I can crash diet, replace my unhealthy habits and find better coping mechanisms.
I think I've finally started getting it - not beating myself up for eating a slice of bread, not using food to comfort myself when sad.
And going to the gym has helped a lot. I'm taking joy in attending, not afraid to get sweaty. The endorphins have me buzzing and I like keeping that up. |

"I got told in my diabetic review yesterday I'm not obese anymore I've gone down to just plain overweight lol x"
Nice !
When it comes to losing weight/ building muscle etc etc you need to find what works for you. There is no ‘one size fits all’.

How do you go on about it when losing weight?
Part of the reason I'm fat is psychological and due to medication. I'd say I only ate correctly and exercised correctly for 5 years of my entire life.
the rest of the time I either under-ate, over ate or binge ate.
Slowly coming off the med and will try to get a health balance again.Yes, that sounds good to me "
Noted. |

"Now 17Llbs , still going in right direction ????"
congrats.
I've dropped from 75mg to 50mg on the fat meds. Lol! yeah you have to come off mental health medication really slowly otherwise bad juju.
On the plus side, the appetite has disappeared now the sports rehab massage therapist told me to drink 3 liters of water a day. |

" exercise alone can't make up for a poor diet , crap food and / or portion size. I've done some form of exercise or sport 5 or 6 times a week since jan 1st. barely lost a stone.
Bloody metabolism is stupidly low.
Often getting hr of 50bpm.
I've cut out my usual sweet stuff , smaller portion size .
Come to realise it needs to be a permanent change "
Um are you trying to lose weight or body fat because i'm certain I have double or triple the body fat you've got.
Muscle weighs more too! |

You don’t have to have cupboards full of the above "
My parents let us have one or two snacks per day.. I was skinny as a rake. |

"I find losing slowly is unmotivating but I suppose it depends how much you are trying to lose.
Best way is to eat anything you like but much smaller portion so you don't feel deprived. I hate cutting out food groups "
I have to cut out animal fat and sugar mostly.
High cholesterol and diabetes runs in my family.
Despite that I still manage to eat too much for my age and activity level. smh. roll on coming off fat meds. |

therapy helped me a lot but the meds make me want to eat everything. Lol! I hate the gym but I have other alternatives. Main thing is getting a handle on my food intake.
Just realized it's also neurodivergent sensory seeking with food as well not just comfort eating so I have to find other sensory things that don't go in my mouth...
Yup my brain just said "dick has no calories." |

yeah I've either been too thin or too fat.
No strong flexible person. I wasn't raised to keep fit/athletic....so it's all new...once I get off the fat meds. |

I have only recently dropped from obese 30% + body fat, down to 28%.( just fat )
So I'm pretty sure you're not 3 times that lol.
And as for muscle , I don't have much of that. |

When I can get my arse motivated, I get out on the bike for a couple of hours at least three times a week. This way I don't need to cut down on food as the route has to have several climbs to test me. |

As somebody who tipped the scales at over 160kg ten years ago and is now 90kg i often find that whilst i dont track my calories as meticulously as i used to I do have to be careful not to overdo the carbs. I naturally tend to live on bread rice & pasta which is fine in moderation but left unchecked carbs can account for 50% of my calories. By replacing sandwiches with salads and sometimes switching out rice and pasta for CousCous or say Pearl Barley I can reduce that macro to 30% and find it much easier to manage my weight - alongside regular training of course |

My biggest issue is not being able to target areas for weigh loss. Last thing I gained was my boobs & they are the first thing to go, which always derails my motivation to lose more. |

Thanks mate appreciate it. Changing jobs played a big part in it. I went from eating what i wanted whenever i wanted to having a role that meant i was up and about on my feet for twelve hours a day moving constantly with strict meal times. I reckon the first two years of weight loss was through working & walking alone as i was too poor to pay for a gym membership at the time so used to walk for miles in my spare time alongside strict calorie counting |

" Targeted weight loss is a myth unfortunately despite what a lot of fitness "experts" will try to tell you. I tend to lose it on my face first and look ill |

Lost 1.5 stones over a year.
Going to the gym and cutting out on beer and not snacking as much.
Also working from home helped, used to take so much food into work for my lunch but now at home I tend to eat what I need, I thought it would be the opposite.
Used to do more weights in the gym but now doing more cardio so looking leaner. Gone from 14.5 stones to 13 so far.

Skiing burns a hell of a lot of calories for me.....I burn a lot on vacation because I'm sweating a lot walking a lot and swimming a lot and eating very little. |

"Discovered the Ducan diet about 10 years ago and ever since have managed to stick to my goal weight
What does this entail?"
Dukan appears to be low carb, high-protein diet.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dukan_Diet
Personally, I respond better to a whole-food diet. With at least one carb portion a day. I have to cut most animal fat due to it spiking my cholesterol. |

I feel your pain. I lost 5kgs recently. All of it was boob or muscle that I'd worked hard to build. My fat belly is unchanged |

I find it so incredibly difficult to loose weight. When I'm trying to loose, I work out 5/6 times a week, consume 1200 calories a day and ensure I'm in a calorie deficit, but the weight still doesn't shift easily. I do tone up a little and feel fitter but really do struggle to loose the pounds |

Skip the odd meal, drink more water. Burn more calories than you consume. Eat better quality food and smaller portions. Cut out full fat milk and yogurt, eat less bickies, cut down on alcohol especially white wine. |

Its all done by nutrition the gym is for getting you fit
3 clean meals a day and run or walk 4 to 5k every day
If you can fast 24h once a week. Keep it simple and you will loose 5 to 10 kg a month.
Getting enough sleep also plays a big part in it
I say simple but changing your diet can be the tuffest thing of all
Well that and getting a hardon when youve had too much booze lol |

Generally I just stop eating biscuits, cakes and chocolate, cuttung out all of those empty calories is highly effective.

Also depending on what you are doing in the gym, it may just be a case of slowly losing fat and gaining muscle mass so they weight doesn't really change. |
