Golf is probably the most reliable cheap to run and own
Value for money Kia or Hyundai
But personally I would go with a bmw
Gives the little extra driver feel
All depends apon your person tastes though
No one can tell you what your tastes are apart from you |

"Don't just look at the car.. but take into account the running costs.
Jo xx "
The running cost will be a big factor, I drive to Scotland once a year so it has to be reliable, comfortable and cheap to run, |

I would say diesel.. but with the price of fuel. It may oay to go small engine petrol. Also don't buy a just for one possible journey. Get one that works for you 95 percent of the time. And just deal with 5 percent. |

I've got a diesel now, 1.6 fiesta TDI , on a 56 plate, I love it, but think it's time to look for something a bit newer |

Would you stick with a Fiesta but a newer model or a complete change of car and size ? |

VW or BMW would be my choice. Everything else I can afford just feels so cheap and rubbish compared to those.
Maybe an Audi , are there any good? I don’t know It’s feel like a camp male hairdressers or Asian housewife’s car |

I bought my daughter a VW golf last year, £6K for a 2012 , but only 35K miles. Brilliant little car , never had an issue and the garage have offered to buy it back recently for the exact same price if she wants to upgrade. |

1.6 TDI engine
Seat Leon, VW Golf, Audi A3 (2014 and newer)
I find them to be very reliable, great MPG on motorway and decent for urban roads.
I get 500 miles from a full tank from local roads and 800 from motorway driving. |

Good luck, used car prices are ridiculous at the moment.
Car's that should be around 10k are going for upwards of 15.
Look for an older Lexus ct200 hybrid.
Very comfortable
All the bells and whistles superb reliability.
Just make sure that the history is good and it's had a hybrid health check.
If you get it serviced by lexus.
Ten years warranty on mechanical parts
And 15 on hybrid system.
Still bang out 55mpg and if you get the right year zero road tax. |

The small suzuki cars are very good kia are a very reliable make, it really depends on your budget and what you currently have and if it has any trade in value. Most brand new cars have some kind of hybrid system |

Love my Mazda CX-5......second one I've had. As a brand, I can't fault their customer service. Lot of car for the money too. Includes mist of the "extras" that you pay more for on a BMW or Audi. I'd never go back to a BMW (Used to drive 520's). |

"A lot of these cars are way out of my price range "
Dacia stepway/ Dacia Duster ... both 5-10k 2nd hand low miles , very cheap to run, reliable etc
worth a look at if you dont mind simple cars without the nonsense of more loaded cars thrown in |

Then stick with Diesel or you could end up putting diesel in to a petrol not a good move. |

Toyota are renowned for there reliability. Not known for being particularly exciting.
Honda another reliable manufacturer the civic is now a saloon with a good boot.
Subaru legacy used to be super reliable. The gentry were known to hand them down as airlooms.
Not sure what they are like now!
I've got a diesel 320 m sport I do about 25k year and its lovely to drive I brought it second hand new 4yr with 23k on it servicing through sinter isn't badly priced either.
All cars have the querks and problems just do your homework. |
