Which film have you found the most frightening?
I've just watched 'when the lights went out' and it had my undivided attention, jumped out of my skin when my phone beeped at me.
I don't scare easily normally.
'The last horror movie' was another that had me a little nervous, peeping around the door as I reach for the light switch before walking into the kitchen.

The Thing still scares me every time I watch it as does Aliens (Get away from her you bitch!)... Director's Cut of The Exorcist when she's coming down the stairs crabwise makes me cringe and Se7en (not Len Goodman) was scary as hell when I first watched it at a cinema in London when it first came out then I got lost walking back to my hotel and ended up in a very seedy area fending off pissed up arseholes whilst searching for a taxi to take me back to the hotel which turned out to be only about 3 streets away...(never been good at geography!!) |

stephen kings It was good untill the end which was a bit silly,
Candyman has to be one of the scariest ive seen
Poltiergiest was atmospheric
final destinantion was one of the jumpiest,
and think the first few freddies and fri 13th was ok at the time.
We both love horrors we even have some of our own lol
Mrs prefers the more slasher style movie, where i find the ghost, demons the best. |

When the lights go out is based on a true story, the man who directed the film is a cousin of the original family he has now bought the house in pontefract it all originally took place in, it sits empty but for 3 pound you can walk round it in daylight, apparently according to the neighbours the haunting and noises have started again recently, if you believe in that type of thing |

"Love horror but not found one that truly scares me "
My kids have all, at separate times, tried to scare me when I've been sitting alone watching a horror film, they never have yet. |

I have never been scared by a horror movie yet. I don't like dolls. But I watched Chuckie when I was a kid, and that just made me laugh.
However I watched an old advert from the 70's on YouTube, a doll that giggles. Freaked the crap out of me

" Scariest ones for me though are the Japanese ones Ju-on (The Grudge) 1&2, The Ring 1&2, Dark water. "
they are pretty scary tbh..
find most 'modern horror films' are just excuses for excessive gore and violence..
Magic with Anthony Hopkins is very good, not sure its a 'horror'..

I find horror films which have a religious undertone, ie The Exorcist or any possession type ones really scary.
I don't like the Evil Dead either, I've never watched it properly, I could just tell when the voices started to change that I would be frightened.
I am scared of things like Paranormal Activity, really scared of doors opening and closing and things like that, even if you never see anything physically shocking.
I also thought the Hostel films were very scary, well shocking more than scary. |

This eras horrors are just shit. You can tell when the scares are coming. And the faux scares are obvious too.
Someone said earlier that Blair Witch scared them. I have to agree. No bullshit soundtrack. Just straight in.
Candyman scared me as a kid but I love to watch it.
I love Switchblade romance. It's French so most people will moan "I want to watch a film not read" but it's a good watch.
Martyrs freaked me out too. Fair enough it's probably a thriller but watch it with good earbuds in, in the dark alone and you'll be the same.
The only film that has made my skin crawl is A Serbian Film. This is NOT for the faint hearted. By far THE sickest film I've ever seen. It's just all kinds of wrong.
When I went to see saw 2/3/Hostel 2 I was laughing out loud in the cinema as they're so ridiculous.
An American Werewolf In London scared the shit out of me as a kid. I love it now because of the transformation scene. No shitty cgi. Just really good physical effects. |

Mamma Mia! has to be the scariest film I've seen. A total train wreck and it was scary to see Pierce Brosnan scare the shit out of me singing in that one! |

Film wasn't that scary but does shit me up right at the end when you see them standing in the basement in the corner.
"
Yes that scared me too. This film is intended for the more imaginative than the visual blood and gore type |
