I don’t think anyone particularly gets off on the shaky camera.
It can be quite hard to hold it steady if you are filming pov or filming someone else. You can get the stabiliser but I don’t think anyone is that invested in making films for that… |

Not quite what I mean. Shaky cam as a deliberate technique seems to have been in fashion for many years, especially in action scenes.
I know they use it to indicate dynamic action. But I think it tends to just make things hard & irritating to watch. |

Cloverfield was totally ruined for me with its shaky camera work. I understand why they did it, but surely in the editing process realise they’d alienate a section of their audience.
Found footage films can deviate from the traditional camera work and still make their films watchable. |
