It's going better than expected . I find it very satisfying to be able to keep pushing my limits every day. Gave me energy to return to other activity I used to enjoy too. Thank you
Hope everyone is feeling proud of their efforts. And glad to have you around on this journey.

Hi Midnight
It’s been really enjoyable thanks for organising it. I feel stronger already and haven’t fallen over since the first day, which is entirely a miracle
I have also lost 6lbs which is just peachy by me |

"I didn't over eat over the holiday so i have no reason to get involved with the usual january fitness craze but i am going to try and improve on my flexibility "
It's not the over eating in my case, just the fact that since covid my activity levels have ceased (other than walking the dog 3x a day) due to travel to work being replaced by teams.
Needed something to get me motivated and this is a great start. |

"All good so far, high side planks were a killer though!
Just need to find some more plank based activity to try out my new fitness on..."
Strangely I am finding the high planks easier than the low planks |

"What a lovely group of people doing it! That’s what is making it fun to do
Planks with taps…ouch!"
The toe taps nearly killed me... Had far more impact on my thighs than the squats |

Thanks honey. And yes. I’m absolutely amazed as I have no sense of balance at all. And I find the high planks easier too |

Alluringly mysterious |
I’m finding long forgotten abs from the planking but not convinced it’s getting easier!
Squats pretty straightforward so far but getting down satisfying aches.
Loving having the group for accountability. |

5km to the pub. That's the right motivation!
My 3lbs weight gain will be added to tonight, going round to friends for an Indian take-away (no doubt beers will accompany it!) |

After missing a few days, i have caught up with the exception of todays plank challenge. Stuffed my face over Christmas and drank too much too so any and every effort to shed some timber is a good thing. The push bike has also come out of storage and is in for a service so i'll be pounding the miles away on that in addition.
Thank you Midnight for setting it up, although during the high plank shoulder taps, your name was mud !!
(Not anymore though) |

The problem is that none of the rest of us can do pushups |

It’s understandable hence why I don’t join in planks
I can normal plank with 10-20kg on my back in a back back pack for 2 minutes
But ones you in to all the fancy ones I am done I have spent to long on compound movements
In fact a pic last year set me back 3 months I popped my shoulder out place and tore a rotator cuff trying to zip a Dress |

Found some of the so called easier days tougher than the others, but loving it thanks for sorting Midnight
Very hard to do on a Sunday after a few drinks and a curry on Saturday, but although no visible signs yet, can feel my core is alot tighter and feeling great
many thanks |

Actually better than I expected.
So far I’ve done two BJJ classes, played 90 mins of football at the weekend and trained last night.
About to go and hit another 5k run before work and my body calculations are all heading in the right direction.
The biggest change I’ve made is actually increasing my daily step count on top of all of the additional stuff I do. When I’m in the office I take 15-20 minutes to go for a walk once or twice a day. I also walk to the park and ride bus stop rather than getting the bus and it’s made a huge difference.
I’ll use this thread, and you lovely bunch, as the inspiration I need to maintain it |

Day 23 - My body hates me. I ache and groan just for the slighteat movement. My initial excitment at this challenge has vanished. It is now a gruelling punishment. No visual physical results. I think Midnight just started the whole thing for a laugh. I think she may just be sadistic. The abs, glutes and general adonis body that was inferred has not materialised.
But I shall continue. If I dont report back after day 31, delete my browser history
Well done those still in it. |

Still going and feeling much stronger in my core for it. Wasn’t sure how I would get on with it but I’ve done the ones I can and adapted the others.
Total weight loss so far is 14 pounds so one stone off the flabby bits works for me
Thanks for organising it Midnight. You’re a diamond.
Oh and I’m gonna keep going after the challenge |

Haven’t done planking but have been working treadmill
Start of month managed a 5km in 48 mins blowing out my arse, struggling to run 1km. This week down to 36.30. Then done a pace session with rest. 2 1km’s at 6 mins, 2 at 7min and 1at 6.40, if I can cut the rest part out which I am hoping to do by the end of Feb.
By end of March hoping to get to sub 30 mins for. 5km |

And now the end is near
And so we face the final plank pose
My friend, I'll say it clear
I'll state my case of which I'm certain
We've stretched our body taut
We've flexed each and every muscle
And more, much more than this
We did it our way
… Regrets we've had a few
But then again too few to mention
We did what we had to do
And saw it through without exemption
We posed each dratted day
Each flipping plank along the by-way
And more, much more than this
We did it our way
… Yes, there were times
I'm sure you knew
When we bit off more than we could chew
But through it all when there was doubt
We sucked it up and cried it out
We faced it all
And we planked tall
And did it our way
… we've laughed, and sobbed, and cried
We've had our fill, our share of losing
And now, as tears subside
We find it all so amusing
To think we did all that
And may we say, not in a shy way
"Oh no, oh no, not us
We did it our way"
… For what is a planker, what grit have they got?
If not our strength then we have naught
To say the things we truly felt
And not the shakes of one who side-planks
The record shows we struggled though
And did it our way
…. Thanks plankers, midnight over and out |
