Nothing really.

I had a few drinks last week and that was just to make myself feel better but it didn't work. I think that was my first drink in a year or so.

My mum was an alcoholic. I believe alcohol played a big part in my brother taking his own life.

I'm thinking of completely giving up with booze. I don't enjoy it, and I've seen too much damage.

"Genuine recovering people" what the fuck does that mean???

Does the big book not say, we all aspire to drink like a normal person. I'm just trying to do that. Judgemental prick.

That's interesting. Are you able to drink alcohol in moderation, even though you've had problems with addiction in the past?"

It's only been a couple of months since I allowed myself a drink again. There's been the odd blip along the way but, in general I'm managing to balance it yeah

On an average week it's zero.

I can go a couple or more weeks having a few drinks in the summer, Easter or Christmas, as I tend to do my drinking during school holidays, or shopping days out.

Usually none. If I go to a social event a might have a couple, or with a meal. I don't really drink much at home at all. If I have stuff left over from an event at home, I may slowly work my way through it.

The honest answer is when I feel like I want a drink. But then I’m always honest, but don’t feel the need to expand on it all the time.

Neither do I feel the need to judge anyone else on their preferences

Zero, nada, zilch…. No other reason apart from realizing years ago i didn’t like the feeling and the wasted morning or day after where I had no energy. My son is 26 and his never seen me have one alcoholic drink.

No it's not. Every person is responsible for their own body. Being a recovering or recovered alcoholic doesn't mean you have to quit alcohol altogether.

Can’t really answer that. I’ll go a couple of months without a drink if I don’t go out. If I go out 3 times in a week then I’ll have a drink. On holiday I’ll have a drink every night. I’ve never really put much thought into it. If I want one I’ll have one but there’s no routine to it.

Good on you . I know some people who just can't trust themselves to drink any alcohol, and some who do but put in a lot of effort to keep it under control.

Not particularly doing dry January, but haven’t had an alcoholic drink yet this year.

I do love my wine, but only 2 or 3 glasses an evening mostly.

Occasionally I get d*unk, have a rotten hangover and that reminds me to stay sensible mostly

I think alcoholism is ongoing no matter how much in control you are the fact that your even thinking about controlling it means theres an issue.

It's fantastic being in recovery but il admit I'm an addict and addicts will always be tempted by addictions

That was my fear. You hear all the time in AA about it only ever getting worse, not better. But, equally, if I always had the "what if" I'd never fully commit to the programme. I know I've always got a seat at the table if need be and still have regular contact and in group chat etc, which helps. It's a good reminder of where I was. Equally, I talked it all through with my teenage daughter (who knew I was attending) and explained where my head was at, and she agreed it was OK... so long as I behaved myself haha.

28 months is a huge achievement though, honestly, be proud of yourself

Maybe 1 night in the week at the local or in the kitchen, usually a Saturday and Sunday too depending on work. Sometimes more in the summer if we're out in the garden..

One or two days, usually a friday and Saturday. I will have a couple of bottles of beer, or a few shorts on either or both of those days.

Unless meeting up with friends.

Neither of us are big drinkers. I probably have 2-4 a month on average and Cal much less.
