Changed a wheel, changed bulbs, topped up oil and water, changed a battery... just the basics as I am not a mechanic. If YouTube/Insta/Google shows me how, and it's not a '2 man job', I'll give it a go |

Same. My Dad taught us girls as kids and my Mum knew it all from her Dad too. |

Yes, always have done except for the fact I now can't actually lift the tyre because my back is too far gone.
I'd do more but...
A) I'm a bit broken
B) Bob likes showing me how (and I like letting him)
But that reminds me... I need to get a new numberplate lamp and put wiper washer fluid in too.
Cheers OP

Why details? A car is a car is a car. If it doesn’t work I fix it. It’s not that interesting tbh. I prefer haribo |

I've done it on other people's cars, my nails weren't long though. I have also helped a gentleman in the carpark at work who needed a jump start but didn't have jump leads and then didn't know which terminal on the battery each one should be attached to. |

Changed plenty of tyres (some not even my own), changed bulbs, oil and filter changes, released seized brakes, replaced batteries, replaced heater blower motor, replaced window motors, replaced brake pads, replaced starter motor, replaced smashed wing mirrors, other small jobs of the same ilk. So yes, I know my way around cars and I'm not afraid of getting my hands dirty...not that it has anything to do with gender, some of the tyres I've changed have been for men who didn't have a clue how to do it. |

Yep, changed a tyre, keep oil checked and topped up, water for wipers. Dad was mechanic and always taught me what to keep up to date on before all trips out in the car x |

I changed a battery once. I couldn't get a wheel off to change it because of my arthritis but I know how.
All my cars were serviced yearly but I put oil and water in when needed, and changed a bulb in a back light.

My first car was a dodgy corsa and I bought it cheap. Did everything I could for it myself (new batteries, temp fix heat shield, fuses), all basics what youtube or Google could help with. Anything too major I ignored. Didn't want to invest any money into it, so did it as cheap as I could on my own.
Now I have a car man who helps with the main stuff on my new car. Pure laziness now. |

I had to learn to sew when I joined the Sea cadets, for sewing on badges, seeing up my pockets (punishment), and shortening trousers as well. |

My parents were mean, got my very first car when I was 17/18 and before I was allowed to drive it anywhere I had to take wheel of and put it back on.
They just sat watch with cups of tea!
Hindsight grateful they made me do this as I have half a clue as what to do!
I learnt on an old golf how to take distributor cap off wipe it and put back… learnt this for after going through big puddles
Used to help my dad fix my cars too, was more of a case of me passing the required tool and holding the torch
Now a days… I can AA they are my hero’s |
