"Very rarely use cash now, mostly debit card because it’s a lot more convenient than finding a working cash point that doesn’t charge you for getting your own money " how do you keep tabs on what you spend though and theirs cash machines all over the place that dont charge

"Mostly card these days. Getting harder to even find cash where we live! And don’t get me started on where my nearest bank is…… Easier to get a meet on here than go to my bank!!"

" I'm finding it increasingly more difficult to pay by cash at a lot of places! " Yeah this really pisses me off. Some people don't have bank accounts or prefer to pay cash (elderly people for example).

" I'm finding it increasingly more difficult to pay by cash at a lot of places! Yeah this really pisses me off. Some people don't have bank accounts or prefer to pay cash (elderly people for example). " .. I'm an elderly people I've never had a card..I pay cash..the old fashioned "if you can't afford it save up for it" seems to have gone out the window .. ..

"Cash is king , those sneaky bastards always want to know where we are ! " Exactly they can trace your movements with a card the Will Smith film comes to mind "enemy of the state"

"Debit card. I have a banking app with a widget that updates and shows my current balance. Cool kid me. Before that I kept all my receipts and wrote the running total down. I can't afford to lose track. " That is good and handy that it show the amount and yes, it also good to keep track of ones spending by writing it down

"For last year or so I try to use chase card for everything before that I was AMEX. For holidays I always use credit. I do feel uneasy spending my money of over £100 & may switch back to Amex yet " Amex is the way for safety if you can find places that always accept it
" I'm finding it increasingly more difficult to pay by cash at a lot of places! " A few local places have gone cashless, so I atopped using them.
"Cash is king , those sneaky bastards always want to know where we are ! Exactly they can trace your movements with a card the Will Smith film comes to mind "enemy of the state" " Watch the TV program hunted, they track you when you use your cards.
" I'm finding it increasingly more difficult to pay by cash at a lot of places! A few local places have gone cashless, so I atopped using them." Same.

" I'm finding it increasingly more difficult to pay by cash at a lot of places! A few local places have gone cashless, so I atopped using them. Same." Same, I use cash, and yes I tell the owner I won't be back if they have gone cashless. I do not promote a cashless society. Just in case the rumours are true.

"I like to use both, but I recently started to just use cash, because you notice that the money goes quicker and you are generally more aware of how much you have and have left than by using a credit card " If you’re just buying stuff you need, it doesn’t matter. If you’re buying a load of shit you don’t need then it’s going to end up being a problem either way

Same, I use cash, and yes I tell the owner I won't be back if they have gone cashless. I do not promote a cashless society. Just in case the rumours are true." I will not use a cashless retailer either. I disagree with their model and vote with my feet. I could name a couple of retailers who missed out on large purchases from me due to this.

"Always pay cash where possible. As banks charge businesses for card payments if I pay with £20 cash that £20 will always retain its full value, where as if I pay for something on card the bank will take roughly 10-20p in charges for that payment. Meaning if we go for the lower end at 10p per transaction then once that money has passed through 50 different people in the form of transactions its now only 75% of its original value. I know cards offer you a level of protection on purchases that money doesn’t etc. I just don’t like that the card machines cost per month and every transaction costs too. And for smaller transactions it’s a bloody nightmare. I’ve had so many places try and charge a “minimum card payment” and the likes which is crippling for low income families in particular." Despite the cost/charge that retailers pay, a lot of them still prefer cc’s rather than ending up with a til load of cash at the end of the day and having to bank it.

Glad you mentioned the charging on a card, my local shop once tried to charge me to use my card, I advised them that it is now against the law. I reported them to my bank but they still do it. I do not think many people are aware of the law change which took place in 2018. its called the surcharge ban. so peeps refuse to pay the surcharge its your right.
"I use both. Use cash for smaller transactions and debit card for larger and online. I do have credit cards too but only use them mainly if abroad or away. Keep using cash folks. If we lose it due to the convenience of chip and pinning everything what we all gonna do if there is a power cut??? " I do the same. I use money for the food shopping and the card for the more expensive transactions
"I don’t use a credit card but very rarely have cash. I just use my phone omg phone even worse " Don't you just love it when the customer in front of you gets their phone out to pay and frigs about with it for ages looking for the reward vouchers they have been emailed, as well. Usually involves a last minute deep search of the handbag to find said phone. Never occurs to them to use the time waiting in the queue to get prepared.

" Yes but those fees are passed down to the customer through pricing… we pay it either way but I’d sooner pay cash on principal. I also like to put change in things like the rnli boxes and refuse to sign up to charities I’d much rather give what I can when I can with no obligation which is something else that card restricts me from doing. I also feel it’s a hell of a lot easier for someone to take my money electronically than it is to take it from my persons. I have trust issues lol

"Cash is king , those sneaky bastards always want to know where we are !" This 100%
| |||
| |||
"I like to use both, but I recently started to just use cash, because you notice that the money goes quicker and you are generally more aware of how much you have and have left than by using a credit card " Debit card. Only paid by card for years now, very rarely deal in cash. Still have a load of loose change from the last time I had to draw out a tenner and get change for parking :-/. Have to pay to park at the doctor's now so keeping hold of it because the machines there are ancient and don't take anything other than cash.

"I use my card for most things but it’s a debit card rather than a credit card. Yes my credit score is shockingly low but I at least don’t have a ton of debt I can’t pay off like a few friends I have " There's tips on Money Saving Expert website for how to increase your credit score (if you need to). Such as get a credit card for all your spending but use it like cash and pay it off in full every month.

"Cash is king , those sneaky bastards always want to know where we are ! This 100% " This and also, if one uses the card when doing the shopping like the food, one builds up a habit and they can see on the statement, what day and time and how much one spends, so by using cash, one goes off the grid

I'm happy to stay on grid, the information from work, mortgages, banks, utilities, phone including landlines and mobiles, passports, visas, work permits, vaccination detail for travel and work, doctors, insurance certificates, loans etc etc will tell everyone what they need to know, paying by cash won't stop the flow of my personal information and I'm happy to divulge, no real secrets apart from recreational sex. Don't think Tesco's know about that one...or maybe...

"I bet professionals use cash in the clubs" I do. Find those pennies really hard to carry around as my blow jobs are in the January Sale for a bargain price of £9.99 or 2 for £24.99
"Debit/cash but I think more card as the change seems to build up. Only carrying so much change would be reasonable and it's nice to have money in your pocket in case of emergencies" I break notes then put the change in the piggy bank for small day to day purchases. It builds up quite quickly.
"Bit of both. Credit card when booking flights, hotels and purchases over £100 etc gives that extra security. Use a Starling and Revolut card abroad, cash for tips. Cash in the pub but end up coming home with a purse full of change. " You should ditch Revolut for Chase now it’s far better. Same fee free / live spot rates on ATM & purchases but you get 5% interest on roundups and 2.7% interest on balances

The sign read: 'Oral Sex £1' I was never sure if it was serious.

"Cash all the way for me I'm self employed and a lot of my customers prefer to pay in cash. " Same here. I don't like to take cards on a night out either. I try to avoid anywhere which doesn't take cash. It should be illegal for them to decline legal tender.
"I like to use both, but I recently started to just use cash, because you notice that the money goes quicker and you are generally more aware of how much you have and have left than by using a credit card " trick question lol x

"Card only. Haven't used cash for years. I actively avoid places and people that only take cash. " Why would you?
| |||
" Why would you?" It greatly reduces the opportunity for fraud and unwitting involvement in it. Open and transparent transactions that are digitally recorded provide an audit trail that can be scrutinised. Cash is virtually impossible to trace and it oils the wheels of many a shady operation. No one does drug deals in anything but cash, at least at street level. Eliminate cash, and the drug industry worldwide would be severely hampered.

"I like to use both, but I recently started to just use cash, because you notice that the money goes quicker and you are generally more aware of how much you have and have left than by using a credit card " is bad with either ! When I have cash I spend it and if there’s no cash I’ll still use the card! Like walking into primarni giving a budget of £80 ( that was in cash for this specific reason) and ending up charging the card £178 Yes accepts her punishment of being crap at budgeting! So now I just try and keep a little cash for pocket money and now just used the card cos then I can see where I’m spending it as with cash I just non receipts anyway I’ll also get cash out if I know we going to a local fair or something , and to pay for my nails
"Glad to see do many people use cash. I would hate to see that lost and though I use both, I avoid places that say card only as I don't want to encourage a cashless society. Lots of people can only use cash for one reason or another and it annoys me when people try yo force others to just use cards" exactly but the younger generation already hooked on cards it won't be long trust me, cash will be a thing of the past soon

I was at a shop the other day that said card only. I made a point of telling them I will not use them again as used to be a regular. Yes, the uoung should also think about their grandparents, the charities collecting, the buskers we all enjoy in the streets, the taxi drivers we tip, the window cleaners, the odd job man/woman that tidies up the garden, the car boot sales we all enjoy and so on ..... These people don't use card machines in the main and wouldn't want them to either

" Oh, my days.. We are not all drug dealers. Many people still get paid with cash. " I know. But cash is a mechanism which does make a lot of crime possible. With the abundance of other payment mechanisms now available, the days of cash are numbered, and with it a lot of criminality that relies explicitly on cash. This is a good thing IMHO. I've not used cash since 2019 and still have a £20 in my wallet. I don't have coinage at all. It's card all the way and pay off same day with a banking app.

"Cash only when forced to. I rarely have more than £10 on me. Everything else on credit card - paid off in full every month so no interest fees and linked to a reward scheme. Plus cashback on some transactions payment." This^^^ ...then by Christmas the reward scheme pays for Christmas excesses.

"You can't shit unless they want to know about it.. and if you forgot to wipe your arse they'd pull you up about it. That's how I see the future. " If that's how you feel, that's your prerogative. But reframing that statement in a different way. When Ugg in the Paleolithic period (let's say 2 million years BCE) decided he wanted to have a shit (and being a good caveman, he did it outside the cave) got up and headed for the exit, I think it's fairly likely the other cave people looked at him quizically. After all, going "out there" was dangerous. So Ugg points to his posterior and crouches on the ground and makes a straining noise. The other cave people in recognition say "Ahhh". Off Ugg goes to do to his business. Ugg comes back, job (or Big Jobbie, since the Paleo diet was quite protein heavy) done. The point being, humans are social animals. We watch and observe each other. We look out for one another. Perhaps some cave people didn't give a shit that Ugg was going to take a shit. But others did. Ugg's family had a right to be concerned in case he did not return. The "cave leader" had a right to be concerned due to predator activity, and if Ugg brought a "friend" back. I think your hyperbole about not being able to take a shit is somewhat alarmist.

I think your hyperbole about not being able to take a shit is somewhat alarmist." And then, along came Thomas Crapper and the rest, as they say, is history.

"Cash is king. Use it or lose it" I agree, it makes the world go around
"The bankers are gonna attempt to kill cash off this year and force CBDC on the populations, after that comes programmable money, social carbon score and mandatory vaccinations. " What is programmable money? Will it listen to our conversations and report back? What is social carbon score?

" I'm not sure if I am allowed to post YouTube links here, but if you have a look at Coin Bureau on the 5th of October 2022 on YouTube he has an in-depth and easy to understand explanation into it. (Coin Bureau is a a podcast on cryptocurrency and the factors that affect it, battery covers social credit as he feels it will affect cryptocurrency)

" Oh, my days.. We are not all drug dealers. Many people still get paid with cash. I know. " Yep, you keep leaving a paper trail of what you are doing. Makes it easy to keep an eye on your daily movements. Cash only for me

"I don't think it's a good idea to dispense with cash altogether. There needs to be an alternative to everything, you can't take choice away. " True but if you don't use it in favour of your card it will be taken away, make a conscious effort to use cash more
