If a wink is sent to show you are interested in a profile, why would someone wink when your profile clearly states they would not be suitable for what you are looking for.
From my single girls account I am looking for single men pref younger than me but over 26, with hair. So, why are virtually all of my winks from either couples looking for a bi lady (I'm straight), married men, men over 40 or non-white men.
These winks are obviously going to go unanswered my end, so why do people send them.
To me winks seem a pointless feature if not going to be used properly |

We see winks as 1st contact lol they have their place on the site just like the chat and pms,The point in them is sum will use them correctly and there are always the few who won't,We just take no notice of those who obv take no time to read the profile lol Enjoy |

"I ignore all winks.
I would even block those I have no interest in meeting who send me unsolicited Friends Invites.
"
I block the unsolicited friend invites already , going to start buk deleting winks too I think, pointless eating my time poking at them. In just under two years I have been on here, I can count on both hands number of wink I've received from guys matching what I am looking for |

We use winks, just a quick way to get their attention, if they like they hopefully wink back and we,ll mail,
also sometimes we come across a nice profile and like to send a wink just like a flirt or complement to say nice pics, as in why people still wink or mail when you state what your looking for, we have come across loads of couples/singles who say this and that on profile, but break it, ie wont be smokers but we smoke ie no over 35 etc but we are, we tend to see it for what it is, they liked the look of you. |

I flick through my winks - if I like I wink back but I don't often do that. Similarly I send very few first contact winks out! Unsolicited friends invites annoy me more than winks. |

Maybe so,but what I have listed on my profile is what I stick too.
People sending winks/messages that don't fit what I am looking for, shouldn't assume, I will meet, instead they should concentrate messaging those more likely to meet, thus wasting less of there time and less of mine.
I used to be polite andrespondwith a no thanks, but just lately finding myself just hitting delete button.

I don't use them myself but they might just fancy you and want to let you know even though they dont match your requirements.
Its just a bit of fun really I don't take them seriously. |

I ignore the winks. If you delete them they can wink again. If you leave the wink sat there undeleted I think it's 30 days or something till they can wink again.
Not sure if it's the same for friends invites. I ignore those too, unless it's someone I've been chatting to. |

suppose its how you look at it, like said we just look at it as a complement so dont maon about them, and its easy enough to delete all with a single push of the mouse, so dont have a issue with it, find it wastes more time moaning about them |

Asking a question about winks is hardly moaning! |

We don't mind winks. We view them as a compliment, no more or less than if you would give someone a fleeting glance in a bar or the street. What people write in their profile is more important. |

The above suggests to me you think I was moaning, no offence taken and merry Xmas also, but my OP raises issue of wink system not being used as it was intended for. If that's a moan I apologise, but thought forums are a place where posts like mine were allowed to be posted.
Wasn't expecting another thread set up as a dig though |

Some inexplicable winks are simply the result of members randomly browsing on mobile phones, where they can easily but inadvertantly touch the part of the screen which sends a wink……
Its hardly worth a hissy…. |

Inexplicable winks I can understand. Yesterday however, I deleted a wink 6 times, guy continues to wink, wouldn't say that was accidental.
Oh, it's not a giddy fit, it's a question, why send a wink to someone who wouldn't be interested because you don't match why they are looking for.
A giddy fit is "stop sending winks or I'm closing my account"
Slight difference in the two dont you think |

Over the rainbow, under the bridge |
I delete the vast majority of winks I get as a matter of course. I do look at profiles but apply all my filters/preferences just as I would with messages. And if there is no face pic to look at I do not even give it a second glance. |
