Does anyone else ever buy anything new and then realise they have nowhere to wear it?

I just ordered a maxi dress with a thigh high split online, really sexy looking dress. But where does one even wear a dress like that?

I don’t go out that often so I suppose I’ll be wearing it to do the hoovering

Sounds like the kind of dress you could wear to a club.

Most of my wardrobe consists of other people's clear outs.

Can rarely justify the spend on myself unless it's work essentials or slippers. Fucking love slippers.

That's my girl

It's probably now just about finding more excuses to wear it. Use it for a photo session or restyle as someone suggested above. Sometimes a maxi dress can look fantastic with a nice jumper over and boots.

Carlisle usually

Best thing to do is just wear it.

One of my colleagues mentioned the other day that if anyone else suddenly showed up to the office dressed the way I do there'd be an uproar, but it's just me so it's fine.

I did spend a few months when I started working there slowly morphing from standard office wear to what I wear everyday so it wasn't too sudden. But these days if a split goes up to my hip showing off the fishnet stockings and suspenders it's just accepted, because that's just the way I dress. As long as I'm not outright flashing anyone we're all good.

Half of my wardrobe is full of clothes that I’ll impulsively buy and think that’ll be nice for going out. I never go out anywhere to actually wear them.

The best method is to adopt a non-conformist approach, eschewing any fads. That way you're not waiting for an occasion or a scenario to wear your new clothes: just wear them...for 'every day' attire.

And you'll feel all the better for it.

Scara! I've just got it.

Yeah. Hi.

Wear it for some photos. Chunky cardigan, big belt, DMs. Perfect. You obviously liked it to buy it, don't do what people do and keep things for best etc. Find reasons to wear it. I'm sure you'll look great.

Leggings underneath?

Are you any good with a needle you could seam one side or make both splits smaller

My sister wore a black dress like that recently with flat chunky boots and a leather jacket. She has a big thigh tattoo so the dress was amazing for flashing that. She looked cool AF, it doesn't have to be with heels and formal.
