How knackered are you?

The prep for Christmas, Christmas itself and family, be it visits or just a nightmare with them all, in laws, kids off school, trying to fit in everything and juggle work, your routines going out the window, money worries. Eating far to much. Sleep routine affected by later nights.

And then new years eve.

And then you get to relax, breathe and realise you need your routines again and need to get back to normal. Do you find it all quite disruptive to normal life or do you breeze through it? Even the most organised can still find it exhausting.

I'm pretty exhausted. Had a lovely Christmas and New year's eve, was just very busy!

Anyone else feel the same?

I think we need to rethink Christmas as a society.

It needs to be much more about hanging out with family and friends and drop/ massively reduce the gifting aspect.

Hell, the day was about the working class flaunting the power structures of the rich for a day before marketing, capital and inventing Santa.

All I did over the festive period was work, to the point my immune system has been unable to fight off all the lurgies brought in by customers who thought it was ok to bring coughs, colds and sicknesses in.

Swear down we had people coming in as a family and kids burning up asleep. Go the fuck home.

The amount of people that full on gurgle-cough their way through town without covering their mouth is disgusting.

"Not really knackered, but am very pleased to see the back of Christmas etc."

Im quietly glad it's over too. That might sound like it was hell, it wasn't, but it could have been better.

Hope yours was good and not hellish.

Friday was the first day I spent alone, I was too bloody tired to enjoy it though and couldn't wait to sleep.

Thank you; not hellish, but I'd rather be hibernating at this time of year.

Quite the opposite tbh, three day working week last week and only four next week so enough time for rest and relax. Christmas stuff is either enjoyable or I don't do it !

That sounds awful. I guess some have little choice as have to have their kids etc but they feel they need to get stuff and get on with it.

Mine had stinking colds and I kept them in where I could and refused to take them out or to family. Didn't want to spread the germs.

I hope you're OK and you have your immune system back to tip top condition soon.

Working in hospitality, I am totally knackered and even though it has been good, I am so glad to see the back of the festive season.

A well earned day off tomorrow

we are both still very much recovering from lurgies over the festives so very run down and depleted but hope to work on that situation in days to come.

Time to concentrate on our health.

It can be exhausting at times but it's a great time of the year for us, three generations sat around the dinner table for a very relaxing Christmas day, we do nothing for the new year but agree about the eating to much etc.

Newry Down

I had earmarked today as my recovery day; stayed in bed until 3pm (which is something I have never done before) followed by a long relaxing bath and then finished off the last of the Christmas cake.

As an avowed atheist, this special time of year for many others holds no particular significance for me, and I am glad that normality returns this week, on Tuesday.

Not exhausted from Christmas or New Year since it was just me.

Been alone pretty much since 22nd December. A couple of days with my son and met up with a mate for a visit to Brooklands museum.

This was the least stressful Xmas I've had in years, but I did a ridulous amount of socialising so I'm def burnt out from being around people so much! I have had the best time, but I can't wait to do normal things this week and have some downtime.
