Oh I miss Scotland so much sometimes! Nothing appeals to my heart quite like a good gastronomic image. No, there's no tradition where I live currently - my mum eats grapes at midnight and has instilled that in me. I might do an ovenbaked whole salmon as a nod to my heritage. Undecided! |

I read it was just because the butchers were gonna be closed and everyone would be hungover, so steak pie was just a cheap, easy dinner but that explanation sounds deeper |

I’ve also heard of that one too and also the 2nd of January wasn’t a bank holiday in Scotland until 1971 , so people had to have something to cure the hangover before going back to work. One of them must be true |
