The other day got pics fabbed from a guy claiming to be 42. Appreciated.
Went to his profile and he's at least 15-20 years older than that
Why do people do this? To get around age filters? |

I find it frustrating that as my age increases on here, so does other people's age ranges, forever keeping me just out of range...
This may be one for the conspiracy thread |

Are you making an assumption just based on photos because that's a bit risky. I've seen pics of people and then met them face to face and some have looked much older and some much younger. Not everyone can take a decent photo.
Maybe they have fudged their age. Personally I couldn't care less if people add/subtract a year or two for discretion purposes to make their online self more different to their actual real self. But yes, trying to knock a decade off to appeal to more people is pretty pointless if it's obvious.
There aren't many that can do that apart from the odd celeb such as Jennifer Aniston, Matthew McConnaughy, Mr Pitt etc.

"Yes and had the reverse of this guys claiming they are older and then are much younger, bless x"
Really?? I've never heard that before. But can totally believe it.
From other sites, alot of women seemed to complain about guys lying about their height |

Yes, it happens to me quite a lot… had some who actually admit they changed their age on their profile to be able to send the message |

I did base it purely on his photos, but it was quite obvious.
Either he's really, REALLY let himself go, or he was about 20 years older than his stated age.
I understand as much as anyone not everyone can look their age...I was still getting ID'd for alcohol when I was 28, but it's really difficult to wipe off 20 years through just angles & lighting.
Frankly he wasn't looking great for a bloke in his early 60's, let alone 42..
He could've at least tried to make it believable |

Yes. And the hope that once you get to know them and meet, you won't be bothered by the age so much as other things will shine more.
But lie somewhat shines brighter and you wonder what else did they lie about or will? |

It's happened on other sites too.
My age filters are quite wide so 60's would be fine, it all depends on the look. There's 30 year olds I wouldn't touch...age is not even that important but lying about it so blatantly is not a good look..
But anyway, I remember one bloke claiming to be 63 always trying to hit me up on another app, yet he didn't look a day under 80. That's just a bit too much for me |

He didn't look great for the age he really was, let alone the one he claimed to be.
If he was really 42 then he needs to kick whatever habit he has. |

Yes! Although apparently you can have those "fixed" too nowadays ? "
We were happily drinking coffee last week when Mr N pointed out a neck and chest firming cream on offer on Amazon...
My raised eyebrow and a warning to be very careful suggesting such things to women made her m laugh and quickly move on to safer subjects |

I always wonder with those creams why it doesn't cause people to have really stiff fingers and hands.....

"Why lie? No point, you are only lying to yourself. But I do wonder why some people have such narrow age filters, some are like 35-40!"
Because that's the age of people they want to meet or want messages from. |

Yep ,people lie when there's a chance they'll get a meet.
I've had men increase their age to get past my lower filter too .
That's why you see so many profiles with the wrong ages saying I'm actually 50 not 43 but can't change it ,they usually have changed it at some point and now can't again. |

37-39 - have you got someone specific in mind?
I like the person who puts 98-99, always makes me smile, but done so that she is not inundated and can approach the men/women she likes. |

"You do know guys can go prematurely grey? Baldness too. I started losing my hair at 16 and started grey at 42 "
But this guy had FINISHED his greying process. He hadn't started, he had well and truly COMPLETED the game!
The only way he is that grey at 42 is if he stared going grey at 12

It doesn't matter. If you're going to meet someone and you find them attractive then what difference does their age have. I've not found my advanced years to be a problem |

First grey hair at 21, but wasn't bothered until I grew a beard, I now resemble Uncle Albert from only fools and horses. |

If I find out someone is being disingenuous about something so basic it is an instant block especially if they changed it to message, like tricking me is a compliment!
It isn't just looks that determine people's age preferences & these should be respected.

Nope, its true. from 41-45, everyone seemed to have 40 as their upper limit. Hit 46 and the fuckers all amended it to 45 the same day |

"Possibly.
It’s not only men, women notoriously do it as well." Thank you Dee, I was about to say just that. People here (both male and female) lie about a lot of things. Lying about age does seem a bit daft, especially if the idea is to meet someone. A lie uncovered as soon as eyes are laid upon him/her. Assuming the difference between stated age and actual age is quite great. When the difference is only a year or two, it's more difficult. |

"Thank you Dee, I was about to say just that. People here (both male and female) lie about a lot of things."
Maybe it's different for other people (would like to hear feedback from other TV/TS), but in my case its almost exclusively, men, either pretending to be much younger than they really are, using other people's pictures, or being dishonest about what their sexual intentions are. Invariably.
Never had much interactions with women on here outside the forums.
I did have one "woman" message me a few weeks ago apparently declaring an interest, but it was stupendously easy to tell it was really a man using a fake profile.
I mean HILARIOUSLY easy. |

Of course the interest you get is overwhelmingly from men. Thats the same for literally every other person in here |

We had a male contact us saying please ignore my profile age of 30 as I'm really 42, but I fuck like I'm 20 ...
Far too many numbers in that sentence.
Missed out the part about being a blatant liar as well ... |

In my opinion I don’t see the point in lying about my age, or anything for that matter.
If people are willing to lie about their age, what else are they lying about? |

I'm 41 but I honestly don't look or feel my age. I remember being tempted to shave a few years off my age because I felt that 40+ is considered old by some people and I would be ignored becauseof it. I'm glad I didn't because my age means fuck all to me now.
Hands up who was born in the late 70s/early to mid 80s?? Would you change that for anything? Being a kid in the 80s, a teen in the 90s and enjoying life in the 00s! The best times!

I don't think an inaccurate number is as bad as photos that are years old. If their pics are recent and you're attracted, you get on well, why would age matter...I know some have formed long term relationships but generally that's not what's sought here. I have age prefs yes but they arent set in stone. |

Should we not attempt to discourage dishonesty on a dating/hookup site?
Such lies could lead to people getting themselves into potentially dangerous situations. |

99% it's to get around filters that's why so many people create new profiles much of the time.
Tragic that people don't work with what they have, rather than their headfuck fantasy, making fab so much harder for everyone |

I find lying just generally very difficult - having to stick to made up stories is too much hard work so I'm actually too lazy to not tell the truth.
Right now I'm 50 exactly but lucky enough to still be able to outpace a 40 year old very energetic bad bitch . The week of both of our milestone birthdays last year caused us internal angst but now it's just a number - as long as we stay as physically fit as we were 20 years ago and don't get dementia we'll take that to the bank |
