Smell..

We see a lot about smell and hygiene on peoples profiles and we always assumed it was a given that people would shower and turn up clean and smelling fresh.. seems we wrong, oh so wrong

Do people turn up dirty and smelly all the time or is it a rare occurrence? Shocked by how many specify it!

It seems like a weird thing to brag about, showering, but a lot of people seem to do so.

I also brush my teeth. Do I get a gold star?

I turned up for a meet once, and when she opened her front door the smell from her house hit me like a train.

You know that dirty, skanky, unwashed smell....? That one

I'm always amazed at how many people STINK when in the supermarket and sorry blokes ....... it is mostly ..... if not all ...... men. Unwashed and B.O. ridden and not fresh B.O. that a worker can be proud of ...... rank.

There used to be a common line is "I know what soap is"

I know what a trombone is. I can't play one and I've never tried.

Do they know what soap is the way I know what a trombone is?

I did exactly that! I mean, if her house smelled like that, there's no way I was going down there!

If I get the slightest whiff all play is off.

I do specify it on my profile so it does give anyone notice as to what I expect and it’s only respect for others.

Luckily I've never had a meet like that, which would quickly be a non meet.

I always shower and that includes pulling the foreskin back and washing there as well, as that smeg stuff stinks

Copious amounts of old spice cover's many smells.

The difference between men and women...

Her: I should get a full body wax, mani pedi, out my lashes on, out my extensions in and shave my toes cos he will definitely notice that!

Him: Maybe I should have a shower just in case my balls end up in her mouth?

Some people seem to be unaware that they have body odour issues.

I say this from an employer perspective who has, over the years, had to speak to at least three individuals about this due to formal complaints by co-workers.

So I think it probably happens with regard to sex too.

Ive seen that mentioned lots on peoples profiles. Not just on here, but on other sites too, including vanilla dating sites.

Like you say, you'd like to think it was a given, basic hygiene and cleanliness.

But asking for it on your profile, does it do any good??

Do the great unwashed actually know they smell??

Or that they live in squalor??

Would they read 'please be clean and shower fresh' and think "oh, that's not me. I stink".

I visit lots of homes in my job. And its incredible the conditions some people live in.

Not Fab related but I (Badger) once had to deal with a Manager at a Premier Inn who rang my company to give us a full refund and kick out one of our employees, because he smelt so bad that several guests had complained. I had to confront him about his hygiene and couldn’t believe people can be that minging.

I met someone once from somewhere else and we both knew it was to have sex and it soon became obvious that she hadn't washed for what smelt like a week so I had to make excuses and leave.

Yes you would think that making yourself as clean as possible before meeting someone would be priority even if not planning on having sex

Hygiene should be a given but the competitive cleanliness crew are the biggest bores. You know the type, they've had three showers, washed their hair twice, hoovered the roof and mopped the garden all before breakfast

Wherever I lay my hat

As someone who is fastidious about their personal hygiene I am struggling to keep my breakfast down here. Being a sweaty mess AFTER fucking is a turn on; before - most definitely not. What is wrong with people??

True

Too many times I've discovered a stray leg hair during a meet and gone "Christ, I fucked up"

Pet owners and smokers don't always know that they have a residual odour as they are so used to it. I think we should have a scratch and sniff option on fab...

Erm yeah that's so not me.

A guy on a first meet, I want nice aftershave.

But if it's a guy I know, I don't mind him coming to me a little dirty and sweaty.
