"One of few athletes to transcend his sport. What an absolute legend. RIP"
Absolutely..... Pele, Ali, Bolt, Federer. Absolute showmen at their very best, but for me....Pele is the greatest of them all |

"Announced he has died aged 82
One of the best to ever play the game and the only person to ever win 3 world cups"
Oh no such sad news. RIP the original GOAT |

"For all the history of football he was probably the first global football superstar…
What a crappy end to 2022……"
Yeah, i think you are right. Maybe Muhammad Ali/Cassius Clay too.
My cousin played against him, when Pele played for New York Cosmos.
I didnt realise until i saw some photos. |

I love this quote about him Burgnich, who marked Pelé during the 1970 final, was quoted saying "I told myself before the game, he's made of skin and bones just like everyone else – but I was wrong"

He is one of those few people who you could say that they were great.. but had no “arsehole” in them..
It’s been an hour but I still feel stunned and we know it was coming….
Just what he did off the field after he retired was as important |

I'm of those who haven't watched him play but as a football enthusiast, feel that he still touched many generations after his. If you look at some of his vids of the trickery and techniques you see today, was in fact being performed by him.
Will always remember when he and Maradona headed to each other.
LEGEND |

And don't forget back when he played football's weighed the same as a bag of cement even more when wet.
So being able to dribble and volley a ball was indeed skill. |

And the funny thing is that some of his most famous pieces of skill were not goals…. From the 70 World Cup alone…
The header that Gordon banks somehow turned around the posts….the save of the century
The half way line attempt vs Czechoslovakia
The outrageous dummy vs Uruguay, still can’t believe he missed the shot after.. I still expect it to go in!!
The final ball for the Carlos Alberto blockbuster for Brazils 4th in the final |

In Brazil they actually debate if Pele or Garrincha was the best of all time, yet Garrincha is hardly remembered in comparison. Brazil never lost a game when the two played together. |
