At a restaurant, if you only have 2 courses, do you go for the starter and main or the main and dessert? I'm a dessert guy so will happily skip a starter |

Depends on my mood and the menu.
If there's sticky toffee pudding and custard on the menu I might be swayed to have dessert.
Most of the time I only have a main, as I can't eat a lot in one sitting.

Dessert menus are usually quite limited. I don't like cheesecake, or ice cream that much. Don't like fudge cake or anything rich in chocolate.I'd rather a fruit salad with cold custard or a steamed pudding and hot custard.

I get the fomo and love to share with a date ....but it's a hateful deadly flaw to make a habit of declining dessert while intending to steal bites uninvited grrrrr order two |

It really doesn't matter what the menu is tbh if the people involved really don't care what's on the food menu BUT they let each other know that they're on another menu for each other. |

Always starter and main then you have the option open for dessert should you still fancy a nibble |
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big) | |
Starter and main. I'll have another beer for desert. |

"I have terrible FOMO generally so prefer to split a starter and pudding with my dining companion then I get the best of both worlds. "
Maybe my lack of sharing is why I'm not in a couple |

"can't believe nearly everyone on here is calling it a dessert when it's a pudding "
Only if it has custard on it |

Starter and main then grab a mcflurry on the way home "
Ooooh that's a good shout. McFlurrys are a great dessert. Especially the special one with the sauce |

"Share a starter. A main each then share a dessert "
I and my partner do that whenever it is one of those any two courses deals.
The restaurant never has a problem with this and proffers extra spanners and platters in anticipation of an appropriate tip. |

"At a restaurant, if you only have 2 courses, do you go for the starter and main or the main and dessert? I'm a dessert guy so will happily skip a starter" None of this fancy shmancy stuff for me. No appetisers, entres, starters etc, just gimme my main and dessert.

I can't see the point in having a little starter. When I'm hungry I need to eat ! If I had to wait for a main meal after having a little mouthful I'd be biting my fingers off. |

Rarely have either tbh.
Just usually a main course although we do occasionally split a dessert. |
