Witness:the Amish film, or
Wargames.
The latter looks a bit dated now, but it actually spawned a neologism, a new word, for the searching online that Matthew Broderick was doing in his bedroom.
The film is chock full of flaws, but exceptionally entertaining! |

Do you want to play a game?" Ally Sheedy was great choice for the role. Was really into her at the time. Made my bits feel funny. |

The 80s was a great decade for fun films that were funny and full of action at the same time.
Big Trouble In Little China is the one that immediately comes to mind, but Gremlins, Ghost Busters, They Live among many others.
That said my favourite film of the decade is Blade Runner. |

Again so many to choose from depending on genre.
The films that really stand out for me were Chariots of Fire, Raiders of the lost Ark, Gremlins, Top Gun, Back to the Future, Predator and the original Terminator movie, Blade Runner, Scarface, Aliens, When Harry met Sally, Amadeus, The original Dutch version of The Vanishing |

"It’s gotta be the Goonies? X"
As a kid this was THE film I loved. It was the first film that also popped into my head as I read the title of the thread.

No matter how many times I watch, Trading Places, from 1983; it always makes me laugh.
Murphy and Dan Ackroyd, and of course Jamie Leigh Curtis are cast perfectly.
A brilliant film, every time! |

And don't forget some excellent performances from
Denholm Elliott,
Don Ameche and Ralph Bellamy |

Some of my all-time favourites mentioned here, AND the biggest crush of my teenage years, the lovely Ally Sheedy.
But I believe the title of the thread was "Best movie of the 80s"? In which case, none of you have got the right answer.
The Best Movie of the 80s is of course Commando. It's the best movie ever made.
