Film… having just watched ‘All quiet on the Western Front’ on Netflix….. I’ve seen some gory films and some war gums, this was both, absolutely brilliant but wow it was a grim watch, anyone seen it?

Yes!

I was completely stunned by the time I got to the end of the film. War films always affect me but that one was especially tough.

This one was as brutal as possible, I thought it was brilliant, most of it stayed close to the book, can’t really compare it to anything else and shouldn’t, has made me want to watch 1917 again as that’s one of my favourite films

Saw 1917 last night, didn't expect to like it but it pulled me in & I watched it till the end,

No mean achievement for someone with a short attention span!

Was it the original (1930) version? That's the most moving war film we've ever seen.

No, a brilliant 2022 remake (there was a 2nd one in 1979).

Its a lot more graphic and realistic.

Also a few changes.

A smaller group of school friends. It doesn't show their training. No Corporal Himmetstoss.

But its incredibly moving and thought provoking

"Beasts of no nation.

(Its a film about child soldiers and exploration of minors in continental Africa. Very powerful film.)

A Serbian Film. Heard about it and watched it out of morbid curiosity. I wish I hadn't

I thought that got banned, I won’t be watching it, I mistakenly sat through a human centipede at 2am a few years ago whilst I was up all night doing uni work, would not recommend
