Probably take them down on either the 31st or 1st Jan as we are back to work on the 3rd and so will want to get the house straight before then.

The old tradition is that decorations come down on 12th day of xmas, therefore on 5th of Jan which is the day before Epiphany as apparently according to superstition, it is bad luck to leave your decorations up after the 5th. However the xmas season ends on Epiphany which is Jan 6 and marks the day the three kings actually arrived in Bethlehem after Jesus was born, so this day signals the official end of the Christmas celebrations and dictates the best time to take down your holiday decorations—including the Christmas tree. Many leave them on well past that day and most of January. You do as you wish

12th night for us. Our Christmas tree has been unsupervised since 16 Dec, however! Our hotel Christmas tree is a large pinecone, decorated with bits cut out of boxes and bog roll coloured in for tinsel. The star is shining due to it being made from the foil from chocolate coins and son's girlfriend added some of her glittery make up for sparkle

The pine cone will have to be chucked on NYD when we come home.

I don't usually take them down Boxing Day but may do today.

My granddaughter now lives with me half of the week. She goes to moms later, so I'll do it then.

I need to make room for all of her things. Especially, now they've been added to with more pressies.

abruzzo Italy (and UK)

I don’t really celebrate Christmas or put decorations up, but I find it interesting that in the past Christmas Eve/day was the start of the Christmas period and ran for the 12 days until 6th jan (and still does in many European countries), so decorating happens abroad much closer to Xmas and then stay up for the period, whereas in the U.K. the shift has been so that Christmas Day/Boxing Day is now seen as the end of Christmas with the weeks leading up to it as the Xmas period.

12 days after for me as it’s tradition I picked up from my folks. Guess also once they’re up I try to get the most out of all the effort of dragging them out of storage and setting them up lol x
