Well you can be taught how to do it.
As goes for turkey that can go prefer chicken, But chicken and bacon wrap tastes even better.
But seen as ive eaten some scotish food I would give it a go to cook them.
Though id have to bring my yorkshire puddings mix as well.

Sorry to hear. I bashed it all in the oven and microwave. I rarely ever cook a whole turkey. I think I did one year with my ex and then he ruined the ham while I focused on the.
this year I got a frozen Hungarian goose from lidl. I live alone so it will be sliced up and put in the Freezer until February. When I defrosted the goose for 16 hours. * hours in the sink while I was at work and 8 hours in the fridge seasoned with mixed herbs, Chinese five spice, lemon, lime, celery, clementine, and shallots.
All from Lidl and Aldi because I have heating bills to pay.
My spuds were not properly cooked so I shoved them back in the oven for another 30 minutes.
My sprouts were frozen into a bacon gratin and shoved into the oven. I had stuffing balls that I cooked seperately from the actual Goose.
Experience and practice. No one is perfect for various reason. I nearly flooded the kitchen with liquid good fat as I never cooked a whole untrimmed goose before. Next time I will trim it.
The cider goose gravy is epic. I recommend 10 out of 10 even if just to pour all over your lover and like off. |

I cheat because I check about 10 recipes on the internet for what ever poultry/meat I'm cooking. Not like my mum who does it all from her head...and was working 40 hours a week too! |

Yup... I do cook them separately from the poultry/meat roasting tin. that way if they are not done I can chuck em back in which is what I did with the parsnips. I was warned about the good fat so I didn't want my trimmings swimming in liquid fat so I cooked them separately with a bit of butter/oil spray. |

I think I've cooked a whole turkey once in my 41 years.
Other Xmas times I've opted for goose, duck, pheasant, cornish hens, guinea fowl or poussin. A few times I've done ready-seasoned bacon-wrapped and butter-basted turkey crown from M & S or Waitrose. My goose this year is from Lidl but I had to season it but not baste it. Goose has enough fat to flood my kitchen. |

My oven has been going for half the day so I just chucked what ever need to be defrosted in there and check back in 10 minutes.
Multitask and use all available heat. Lol! Bloody energy bills. |

Look cooking isn't easy for everyone ok. I nearly flooded the kitchen with liquid goose fat after I ignored a few recipes that told me to trim it off. Experience, trial and error. Also everyone's oven/ stove top is different. |

"I had a pot noodle "
Ick no. I'd rather have one of those ramen noodle packets from Asia or Maggie.
I was introduced to pot noodles in 2001 and I still can't stomach it. thank good I live in london and the packet noodles from the Caribbean, African, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Indian/Pakistani or Polish shop are nicer and sometimes cheaper. (ignore E numbers) |

I learned to cook in my gap year and in the summers at Uni. I've got about 10 cook books from the Caribbean, Asia, Latin America and Modern British...yes Jamie Oliver is in there... I feel no shame...he save my ass so many times with his 15/30 minute meals. |

My neurodivergent brain cannot even imagine feeding 60 people.

I'm on my own too....and I usually like it that way because it takes the pressure off of my neurdivergent brain.
Plus I usually like what I cook even if it isn't perfect.

You did your best and that’s what counts. With cooking you have to learn lessons and then do better next year. I make a baked Alaska for my birthday homemade ice cream and all. First one the meringue broke ruined. Tried again and it went great. Maybe try making it again but roast chicken not turkey. You’ll get there |
