My first Christmas alone after the death of my mum in June. It’s gonna be tough. Just letting my kids do their own things as they both have partners. I’m not gatecrashing their Christmas. Got my ready meal with holly in it lol. Got my 58th on NYE to look forward to

Life's full of struggles, is never easy with each of us all having some sort of difficulties. Some more so than others, and we can & should take comfort in knowing that nothing stays the same forever, we should not ever give up on hope that with time there'll be better days ahead. Peace and luv to all esp. those going through difficult times. Best wishes.

Personally, once kids left home, I hate Christmas. Se it for what it really is. For millions it is a time of sadness, worry, embarrassment, fear, lonely. Nothing like the bullshit adverts on TV. We should each if possible put £10 into someone gas meter so they can at least be warm.

£10 into someone's gas meter is a gr8 suggestion, knowing actions speak better than mere words.

We should also check up on the elderly make sure they are all ok.

Doing the little things can make such a big difference to someone's life (definitely more kindness needed in this World of ours).

Lovely thread OP. I'm at home this Xmas by myself, my choice as I just can't spend it with my family, thanks to my mum and sister's attitude. As usual though I'm getting the blame for it. It's a difficult time for a lot of people, for different reasons. I hope everyone gets through it ok x

Christmas gets me down every single year. All that expectation of jollity unfortunately has the opposite effect on me, I’m looking forward to Monday morning.

It can be a terrible time of year for some folks.

Working right through till next Wednesday but Paul and I do try to make an extra special effort to say Merry Christmas and engage with single people in any pub we visit, we did it yesterday and it's amazing how good it is to chat with new people, everyone has a tale to tell, an elderly gentleman kept us in fits of laughter, what a life he had led.

We don't do big family Christmas dinners, just not our thing but will be thinking of those who are not as fortunate as us, we are always happy to engage with others.

Hope Christmas brings good cheer to everyone and 2023 be a fabulous year.

Thank you OP

I was going to be alone this xmas but I was luck to find a friend who was also alone and we've decided to spend Xmas together.

Much love to those who do spend it alone.

Had my first xmas breakdown this morning. Likely to lose everything I've worked six years for in the next 12 months, lost the first part yesterday. And theres not a thing I can do to change a bit of it, its entirely out of my hands.

Trying to be positive but it's not easy.
