Grandson in hospital...

My step grandson has just been admitted to hospital, he is 7 looks like he is in for christmas.

Please my fellow forum friends send your love and healing thoughts to him for a speedy recovery

No it isn't. The nursing staff make it as special as they can for the children. It will be open visiting, though this depends on the childs health and santa may visit, there's presents and its a lovely atmosphere.

At a nearby hospital members of the Hells Angels visit the hospital, complete with bikes and leathers and deliver presents to the children. Its really lovely.

Best wishes. I hope it isn't too serious and you can all be together to make it a really special one for him. Hospitals really do try to make it very special for children when they are in at Christmas.

I was staff nurse on paediatric ward for quite a few years and as others have said it doesn't have to be a bad place to be in on Christmas day. We used to have Santa come down with presents and invited children's families to have dinner on the ward with the kids. We had Carol singers and lots of presents for kids to wake up to. We used to try to get as many children home at least for the day and I loved working Christmas day. Thinking of you all x x gill

Lewis has septicaemia, and is on loads of iv antibiotics, he has had a comfortable night and responding well to treatment
