Alice and I went to see a burlesque show last night and thoroughly enjoyed.

Neither of us are interested in attending the local "gentleman's club," but are planning on attending another show like last night as soon as we can!

Anyone else into burlesque?

I've seen a few cause a friend of mine does it. Brilliant entertainment, the amount of work that goes into a performance is mad.

Yes we both attend shows regularly and both perform in shows although it is mostly Alexis who performs these days.

Really? That's so cool!

We were both impressed with the level of skill and artistry. Even some of the more "silly" bits clearly took a lot of work.

"It's very erotic."

Agreed. I think we both found it sensually enticing precisely because it was classy and more "restrained" than other shows.

And some of the dances were just beautiful.

Yep. We had our sights on one that sold-out before we got to buy tickets, so just searched around.

I have been to both professional and amateur Burlesque shows. I'm not sure I found them erotic, as in I wasn't sat there with a hard on, but they are great fun.

Yeah, we don't know half of what goes into it - or behind the scenes - but we were still more than impressed.

I love burlesque. Used to be very involved in the scene when I lived on Northampton. My best night out ever was is the old fish market after it became an arts centre and they held a party with kandii khisses performing

I’ve never seen a Burlesque show physically… only on TV, but love these .. I think Dita Von Teese is a goddess, and the epitome of of feminine elegance we seem to have lost.

It's a lot of fun. Mrs moves across the different style and has done classic, sexy, bumb and grind, comic she even does routines where she starts out as a man and transforms into a woman.

Ooh, we'd love to hear more about that. We are in Northampton, but didn't even realise there was a scene here!

Feel free to PM us if you get a chance.

I don't think we'd get such a performance at the abysmal bus station now!

It is a hobby but an all consuming one, there is the whole process of finding the music, coming up with the dance moves, then there is the whole costume and props thing.

Some are bought others are made our house is full of props and such as fans, wings, a tailors dummy for costume adjustments, props include tables, chairs and even an antique phone which was bought specifically for a routine a few years ago.

A new routine takes anywhere from 3 to 6 months to develop normally although some take a lot longer.

Very much enjoy! Seen a fair number, including Miss Von Teese. Who was honestly a bit of a disappointment, quite clinical if that makes sense.

C surprised me by having me turn up at a venue and sat me in the audience.

What I didn’t know was that she’d been having burlesque lessons and she was in a show with others.

It was incredible and very very sexy - she looked like she belonged on stage.

C then took a further course and the next show she done a solo performance…

We’ve been to see a couple of burlesque shows and it’s incredible to watch and the women have been amazing

Seen her quite a few times now and you are right she does very very classical burlesque which basically means she just strolls around the stage and poses. The support cast on her shows are always fantastic and the costumes are incredible.

Somewhere near here

I used to do burlesque, unfortunately some members of the group fell out when one became a bit of a money grabber and demanded a ridiculous amount of money to be in the group. We then went our separate ways. I really miss it tbh

I perform burlesque and cabaret. I've had some amazing experiences...as well as our own shows the troupe perform at a festival every year, and we get to hang out with the bands backstage.

Been on stage and in the audience for a number of burlesque shows and always thoroughly enjoyed them. I love the variety that comes under the burlesque umbrella.

We love a good burlesque show and have been to several in Glasgow.

They can be sensual without being over sexualised and the women usually are not in need of a good meal.

We went to a burlesque show it was rather tame. I think we went to the wrong one. We plan on going to Paris in may.

We go to gentleman’s clubs now. I will alway send them a message to check they allow women in. Club tantalise and diamonds and strings allow women in.

They can be fun. We plan to go again on our child free weekend.

Anyway this is my first forum message

Tonypandy.

It's an amazing artform. Know a few burlesque performers from the London scene. Did a few amateur performances at a very alt club, doing drag-king routine, and fireplay, and stepped in to host at a club once.

I've seen a few shows in London and they can be very erotic and entertaining.

Let me know if you have any recommendations. My favourite ones have closed down over lockdown

I have seen a few burlesque shows, the most erotic was in the middle of a packed club somewhere in Devon, bizarrely. She wasn’t dressed in anything especially Burlesque-y (not a word, I’m aware ), and the place was full of half cut marines so it could have gone either way, but she had everyone entranced.

Someone should set a ‘meet’ for a burlesque show, I’d love to go again
