But you buy a gift to yourself?

Jump to: Newest in thread

Speaking to some friends about buying a Christmas gift to yourself. Do you?

I never have but I think I will this year. But it’s going to be difficult keeping it a surprise, I know.

"Yes. Although I tend to just buy what I want when I want it."

That’s what I said last night. When people have asked what do I want? Nothing. I buy stuff through the year.

But I am going out of my way and going to get something. I do t know what yet, because I don’t NEED anything.

Yes I have this year. It's something I want, it's a tad silly but I'm looking forward to opening it. I deserve a present from myself, I'm kind of epic.

Wouldn’t say either of us buy something as a gift to ourselves but we do buy what we want, when we want it.

This is why people are so bloody hard to buy for nowadays

No.

I wait til the January sales, although these days they start in December anyway so I may have to change my approach.

There nowt wrong with treating yourself when you can. Why not? As long as its not at the expense of others you love.

If you're splashing out on yourself first and being a tight arse with them, then you're just a cnut.

Yep... most years it's the only gift I'll get!

But I buy myself gifts all year round, it's just at Christmas I justify the purchase a little differently.

I've bought myself a Christmas t-shirt for Christmas Day this year.

In the past I've bought my gifts from my eldest as she was busy with 2 jobs and didn't have much money.

Yes, I buy myself a few gifts - all nice things that I genuinely want - so that my kids see me receiving gifts and having nice things. Throughout the year I often go without so that we can afford ordinary things, so at Christmas I like to make a point of showing them that I deserve nice things too

I never treat myself per se… anything I do buy for myself it’s because I usually need it… new clothes, new Hoover etc.

I enjoy spending my money on others… those whose friendship I value and family.
