Before the new Wembley was built FA Cup Semi finals were played at neutral grounds, decided by where in the country the two participants were based, supposed to be half way, but didnt alway work that way. On that day Liverpool played Nottingham Forest at Sheff Weds ground, the tragedy happened at the end solely holding Liverpool supporters. Too be blunt only Liverpool fans died crushed by other Liverpool fans in the middle part of the end (was fenced and segregated into sections). The turnstiles had been opened to all and sundry by the police around kick off times, due to a crush outside the ground, with the tragic consequences. |

I understand what happened but for years I thought Hillsborough was Liverpools grounds - I still do now to some extent as the stadium is never mentioned or revisited whenever there is press coverage. There's no doubt Sheffield bear a heavy heart but have almost been scrubbed from the record. |
