I think flavour profile because ultimately this will be the litmus test for the 'pepsi challenge'.

Self-conscious implies to me some post-modernist tricks, such as directly addressing the reader or deliberate use of clichéd phrases with a knowing wink. Breezily, I suppose, means doing such things lightly and without apology.

Haha!! That just made me laugh out loud!

"Also, today I suffered the hideous embarrassment of being given a Christmas card when I didn't have one for the donor.

I couldn't use the old "I donate to charity" excuse either be because I'd just gleefully given a card to someone else

Oh no… that is entirely awkward. But I’m sure you handled it well. In this scenario it’s best to just bumble a little and then move on… quickly

The idiosyncrasies of those Hastings residents.

That's why I keep inviting 'her' to London.

I knew it would… because I couldn’t slap an arse if I wanted to

"We don't do Christmas cards in my corner of Oxfordshire. It's all about Victorian crinkle-edged correspondence cards, these days.

On beautiful hand made paper no doubt?

Is there another kind?

I must to bed. Goodnight, you wondrous people."

Good night Thesp'...!

Oh darling… I would need a brain transplant. To be slapped on the arse = good; to slap someone else’s arse = computer says no

But please don’t call Mrs NC “her”….

Otherwise I may have to bite your ankles

"Just popping in, waving wildly. Now I'm back off to work.

Tootle pip one and all x

This is why I love the Nocturnal: all my paramours turn up like scorned lovers of Christmas past. "

Scorned?

Hell hath no fury and all that?

Nah, I'm a pussycat.

Is there a cat emoji? I think not, we've got ferret and dog.

"I may have drifted into the arms of Morpheus and woken with a cricked neck.

Such class.

°

Orpheus in the underworld. Morpheus in the slumber world. Come sit next to me Thesp' and let's curate next year's Nocturnal wine list.

Oh, this is my kind of task! How shall we classify? Flavour profile, region, grape?

I think flavour profile because ultimately this will be the litmus test for the 'pepsi challenge'.

Perfect. Rich, oaky reds; rich, fruity reds; clean, forest-fruits reds; etc?

Forest fruits! I think we already have our resident sommelier!

You are too kind. A quicker flirt would have mentioned cherries."

And there I was, asleep
