Good or completely useless.
No its not a typo. The use of winks is often debated, so help me out with a study.
Did the last wink you received, lead to anything?
Did you ignore, wink back and hear nothing, or possibly currently on a water bed, drinking cocktails with that person, tickling their posterior with a tickle stick?

Last received wink led to nothing as we weren't interested in the chap so didn't respond.
Last wink we sent was a response to a wink we received.
I think it's a useful tool to gauge initial interest before composing a well thought-out message. I operate under the unwritten rule that the winkstigator sends the first message. |

Don't recall tbh. I only really wink if I feel I don't match the profile ask... But also know that the profile ask isn't the totality of why ppl are here. That and any straight profile viewers.
Only really respond to women and couples that I like. It seems a like warm way of indicating attraction .... But get the power dynamic here is skewed. It's also like responding to a smile irl, I expect to do more actual approaching even if the gal has given me a nod of approval. Or has something in her eye !! |

I look at them but rarely reply to them. I did however reply to one this morning as its from a fun forum user and I knew my sarcasm would be appreciated.

Winks are my initial way to express interest to a couple or single woman here. If they wink back I send decent message to open conversation.
It’s a pity to see most ignore winks but equally messages are either ignored or drown in your overflowed inboxes. I am not fan of sending one word message and I don’t see the point to put effort into something that with 99% probably will not be appreciated.
Winks and clubs are the way! |

So what works better as an expression of interest, a wink or a fabbed photo?
I'm reluctant to message as first contact because I know women are mostly overwhelmed with messages and I don't want to bombard. |

I personally don't really think either, in honesty?
From what little I know of winks, there's too many different interpretations of what they mean for them to be of any use. And a fabbed pic cooould mean interest, but it could mean they just liked something about that one pic.
But that's just me, guess it's better to message the winker/fabber with a 'HI WHAT DOES THIS MEEEEAN', in capitals, without punctuation, for added drama, love a bit of that |

Very imotive topic. The problem is in the nature of the site. The male to female ratio, the lack of general responsiveness across the board. A wink "should" be seen as an icebreaker to a potentially matching people. It is however used way to frequently so is now commonly ignored. Messaging with an interesting well thought out message is great but can be soul destroying when you never get a reply, or blocked or just deleted. So what do we do. Carry on as we are and accept that a sex site with millions of people is going to end up by becoming a bit of a selfish consuming monster. It's just how base nature sexual instinc works in a throw away society lol
Obviously I don't speak for the many here just us 2 xxx |

Just put that to the test xx |

Will just deletes them, if I notice any before he does I might take a look but rare, guess it depends on my mood, kind of think if they can’t be bothered to message then they would be hard work in the chat. |

They might be thinking a wink is more likely to be seen than a message though because they often get lost amongst others, having said that so do winks |

Not sure about other women but I don't look at photo fabs or winks.
If someone wants a response a decent message is the only way. |

I would do, but not everyone's got the brief, which was, share what happened after you received your last wink? |

Okay, I’ll bite.
My last three winks, all this week, have all gone the same way. I can see from the thread this isn’t normal, but here you go.
A woman winked at me. I looked at her profile and she seems nice. So I winked back. Then she messaged me. I messaged back. We’re still chatting now.
If it wasn’t the holiday season with everyone being crazy busy, I’d have met at least one of these three by now because they’re all miraculously local. |

"Sometimes a wink works, sometimes it doesn't... don't want to loose the function though, do we?!
Like a pirate?
Don't they get their parrots to wink for them?"
How can you tell if a parrot is winking? Their eyes are on the side of their head |

Winks have been really successful for me. I think they do work… I don’t as a rule send first messages but if I wink and get a wink back then I might message…
So far the future looks exciting |

"Never ever look at them
I find them a waste of time. Send a decent message to capture my attention not a lazy click"
Do you any advice for how to send a decent message to get your attention? I usually mention something about their pics I like or their update status and never attach a dick pic unless they ask. I don’t get any replies and just get deleted or unread I get as a single guy there’s alot us but how do I stand out. |

I find myself winking a great deal more these days as it saves everyone a bit of time. If there's no initial interest you can simply move on.
I think as a guy on here you can only send so many messages without replies before it all gets a bit pointless. So at least with a wink you can feel like you tried without having wasted too much time. Nothing ventured nothing gained and all that! |

So very true, put effort in to that first message as some do say and then when you do even trying to relate it to someone's profile who hasn't a lot go off... either it's unread or just straight up deleted, im finding forums more the alure of this site recently dating apps are out there if I want a meet |

I tend to wink at the singles/couples that I know I have no chance with. Just to show that I think they are hot and not putting anyone in the awkward situation of having to put someone down or waiting for a reply that will never come |
