Perfume is always an easy go to. Pandora have probably made a fortune from being a failsafe present too.

I think though that anything relating to a personal hobby or passion project, big or small, is a lovely gift on the grounds it shows youve listened or observed with intent into what that person enjoys, whether that be a £20 vinyl or a £2000 coffee machine - getting something personal is better than not

Fail safe present. Not giving one.

It takes the pressure of everyone and stops people buying tat for tat sake.

Want to give a present. Give love and attention. Spend quality time in their presence.

That's the greatest give anyone could give to another.

I give Velasquez' magisterial Las Meninas to all my friends and family at this special time of year. Youngsters love the intricate interplay between light and shade, whilst more mature members of the family appreciate the innocent belly laughs from mocking the dwarf, like in the good old days, Darren, when there wasn't all this political correctness.

The Prado looks after it for all recipients beautifully, which avoids the tiresome need for increased security and insurance premiums. Always goes down well.

It was always difficult to buy gifts for my dad, he never needed or wanted anything. I started taking him out for Sunday lunch as a family and I would pay. My dad loved these gifts.

Tomorrow would be my dad's Christmas Sunday lunch gift. It will be a very emotional time for us as sadly my dad passed away suddenly a few weeks ago. We are going ahead with the meal in memory of him.

Gifts don't really matter, spending time with people you care about is the nicest gift.

NBVN x

Not quite, though the painting often creates the urge to shout "Look behind you!" at the self-portrait part.

Donation to charity. Lots of charities do cards where the donation is recorded. If they don't like that then they're probably a wrong un.

Stockport

Not a bloody clue. Very likely to get it wrong. Chocs for a diabetic. Single malt whisky for someone that doesn't drink. Flowers for the allergic to pollen. Laser hair zapper for a woman with dark skin and light hair. Meal in an Argentinian restaurant for a vegetarian.

Definitely don't take any of the above advice!

If anyone is struggling to choose for me, then warmth and shared food and hugs and memories and cuddles and maybe just maybe orgasms with nice people...
