Played the new Duke Nukem on XBox, didn't really enjoy it as much as the original.

Each Christmas play a bit more of the newer Doom, graphics and game play are superb. Son was shocked when I started at "hurt me plenty" for a laugh, got killed plenty

"Grand theft auto San Andreas "

Honourable mentions for Vice City & GTA3 too.

I also had the first 2 games on ps1 but the first one in particular is decidedly ropey, difficult to go back to those now.

GOURANGA!

GTA London (on ps1 anyway) was like an DLC/expansion disc but you needed to have the first game & swap discs halfway through the loading, which sometimes wouldn't work

There was a full blown sequel GTA 2 as well. It's aged better than the first one I can still kind of enjoy playing it. Think I downloaded the pc version for free a few years ago.

The second game was also top down, but it was much more polished game, better graphics & more fleshed out. In gta 2 you had various other gangs that were in the city like the Russians, the yakuzas and some others & you either be getting your jobs off them or trying not to get killed by them depending on your reputation with a particular gang.

If you're going to play the first game play it on pc, the ps1 version gave me motion sickness just looking at it. I'd also recommend giving gta 2 a go.

It’s got to be GRA San Andreas for me.

Whilst gta v might have more content/bigger map , SA has the best memories of playing it for me. Even just cruising around with the awesome tunes on in the background made it a brilliant game

Sounds like you need to have a play with a Quest Vr headset, the gun controllers for those can be awesome
