Mostvof those you chose will go well with a nice glass of cava though a good rioja, a nice barolo or a cabernet sauvignon are great red matches too. Though you do know they say that best to ignore rules and drink what you fancy ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

I do enjoy cava. I do drink what I fancy, when you know very little about something it's the only option .
We've been to many a wine tasting and eaten in restaurants where they pair wine with the food for you and I'm really none the wiser ![](/icons/s/redface.gif) |

I’ve gone very simple with my cheese this evening , the range in my local supermarket is limited. A cheese with port, a cheese with pinion and herbs and a vintage cheddar. The wine Is Rioja and I’ll also have a good sidling ruby port.
Just need to find something other than the football to watch |

A definite yes on the wines - but then some good quality cheese biscuits (none of those bloody water biscuits - pointless) and breads with olives, dipping oils, a good duck and orange pate, Brussels pate and anything else on the shelves that looks appealing - together with Stilton, brie, Wensleydale and cranberry, Red Leicester, a good mature cheddar - and anything else that falls into the trolley.
And - can it be a berry cheesecake instead please? ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

And that’ll be pretty much my Christmas. Forgot to add the caramelised onion chutney though. ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

I have a decent wine collection, my rack holds about 100 bottles
Pate, with some crackers. Chedder and blue cheese is what we have in at the moment. I will decide on which bottle when the time comes!

Taken the cheeseboard suggested by OAP and paired with craft beers. Hope you all enjoy.
Perl Wen. Carnevale saison by lost abbey. Will cut through the creaminess of the cheese with match the funk.
Perl Las: in cahoots. By Vocation X tooth and claw. Great Belgian IPA, heavy on the hops to add to the funky edge of the blue.
a good vintage cheddar. Either go for a nice red rye ale, such as Dunkels Red Rubis to complement the sweetness or a German pilsner such as flensburger pilsner to add to bite.
a German smoked cheese. Choose a good Scottish ale such as skull splitter, by Orkney ales which will smooth the smokey edge without overpowering, or ramp up the smoke with eternal darkness by bierbliotek.
Manchego. Glogglich by tool. Imperial red ale aged in port and red wine barrels.
Love good charcuterie with a cheese board

I can't remember the name of it, but Chill brought a lovely smooth red home from Portugal earlier in the year, we enjoyed it with steak but it would have gone really well with roquefort or a nice strong cheddar. A selection of crackers, some freshly baked crusty bread, and some fried chorizo slices would make it even better. |
