if a contact( previously in regular communication and promising much) pops back up after totally disappearing from the site without a word, profile deleted etc
Would you write off ?

Yes I would ,I used to speak to a bloke who was always doing this
He'd rejoin and say he wanted to meet ,then vanish again
I got to the point where I just deleted his messages as it was never gonna happen. |

Meh, I mean instinct says yes.
But depends.
Why did they just leave?
Did they mean anything to you?
Sometimes people have things going on in their life you know nothing about. |

Nah. My emotional support pug vanishes without a word. Comes back on when she's feeling randy.
It depends on the person really. Sometimes life happens and people just need a break for a bit. |

Thanks for the thoughts, for myself I am disappointed mostly by the lack of good grace/ manners. We all know that life intervenes and accept that is so for ourselves and others. A thanks but no thanks is always acceptable and helps to stem the cynicism that sudden silences engender. |

I've had this happen with a couple of people. How I respond depends on what had happened before they vanished - if we were just chatting then I don't have an issue picking things up again. If we'd met and someone ghosts out then it's different and I don't think I'd meet up again.
It's the sort of site where people leave and rejoin a lot. I tend not to view it as rude unless leaving the site has disrupted definite plans. |

I think it really depends... What was their reason?
If I ever have to disappear I always try to let people know, even with just a status. And then hide my profile, not delete.
I wouldn't place too much importance on someone I'd never met, they come and go all the time on here. |
