The term "Young professional couple, or Professional couple" seems to be appearing in a lot of people's profile write ups.
Can someone explain to an idiot like me what it's meant to signify?
I know its nothing to do with Bodie and Doyle lol.

It's a great way to filter out profiles of people that think they're in a class of 'proffesional people'
Usually people meaning they won't show their face due to being in certain professions of that they may not have much free time.

They're applying for membership in The Clique™ and won't sully themselves with the majority of mere mortals on Fab. Possibly. You'd have to ask them honestly, different people use it for different reasons

I know what a profesion is but a professional , in general, isn't so desperate to label themselves.
I know what being A Professional means.
I know what behaving professionally means.
I know that some people who DONT know the above use it to signify that they have a bit of money from their job, a nice house and car and behave as if they have made IT in LIFE and want to meet other people who are similar to them.
e.g. They want someone with a 5* lifestyle and don't want to fuck anyone who lives in Goblin Mode or on the minimum wage or in a leaky high rise. |

Nope.
A surgeon is a member of a profession.
A cleaner is not a member of a profession. The cleaner may have a professional attitude to their work but they are NOT and will NEVER be a professional. Someone who gets paid for cleaning differs from someone who cleans their own home. In that cleaning your own home is not for a living. Whilst being paid for doing a job means you are you do it professionally e.g. an amateur footballer and a professional footballer but a footballer is NOT a professional .....

Nope....
A job is not necessarily a profession.
A professional who has a profession and is a member of a professional body may not even work for a living ergo no job but still a professional. |

Correct, but I don't think most people who describe themselves on here as "professional" are doctors, engineers, teachers etc. |

I just take it as an excuse to not have face photos available, but still demand them from you. Whereas the real reason is vastly different, perhaps from being outed to their friends to being caught playing away. |

You choose to be a professional by your attitude and behaviour. I constantly tell my team they are professionals and I expect very high standards.
They have a professional code of conduct to keep that extends outside of work |

It's similar to those claiming to be 'genuine'maybe,
Some of the reactions are just inverted snobbery. Won't meet someone simply because they describe themselves as a professional?

It's how they want to describe themselves. Maybe it's a sign that their careers are important and they conduct themselves in a professional manner.
Personally I don't see anything wrong, and it may be a sign that they value discretion and conduct.
It sure seems to trigger some people.

Personally I find it a bit cringy. Doesn't mean anything to me a part from they're trying to portray a certain level of culture and/or educational attainment. Both of which I'm not overly bothered about. I prefer to take people as I find them on a human level. But I get others may seek to people from same backgrounds (and I assume the point it)
However despite my natural disposition to such statements I've encountered folk on here who do use this terminology and have turned out to be great folk. |

Yes it was a light hearted comment meaning generally fab professionals basically aren't.

"I have no idea why this term causes such annoyance to some
It's just an odd thing to mention, mostly because nobody really knows what it means."
But if you delve into anyones profile text, they're describing themselves with all sorts of generic terms. So far in this thread I've seen people describe themselves as:
Dark horse
Full of life
Not hardened
Open minded
Non judgemental
Etc etc...all of them very subjective terms? It's just a word on a profile, use it as a filter if you must? |

This discussion appears every few months on the forums. It becomes a pretty divisive topic. Deep down everyone knows what it means and what the profile is getting at.
How dare people label themselves and want to meet other people who are similar. Saw a couple describe themselves as slim and looking for slim people. Up their own arses! How very dare they ! |

I like profiles that are pretty direct in terms of what they do or don't want.
I'm not really bothered about people describing themselves as professional really... but I disagree that most people know what it means.

There’s this website called ‘google’. If they type in ‘what is the meaning of professional’ then it describes the term. No one should be ignorant in the internet age |

"They fuck in a professional way x "
I actually met a teacher...I didn't learn anything
I met a banker..I left a deposit
I met an artist..I can still picture the scene odd as it turned out
I met a receptionist..I took her advice
As for the farmers
I met them because I felt they were decent, respectable people, with something in their lives they wished to protect.. their privacy, reputation and desire to keep everyday life and fab separate. I'm guessing that's what some folk desire when they use the description, but until you chat with people, it's quite possible it's peoples mistaken interpretation of their profile that's the issue? |

Interesting how you have thrown in the description regarding body stature.
It shouldn't be difficult to establish what category members should fall in: thin, slim, medium, average, athletic, gym fit, bbw, fat and fabulous.
Yet there are so so Sooooo many profiles on here that clearly put themselves in the wrong category. Now that's a different discussion altogether lol.
Gym fit for example should be someone with muscle tone, veins and no ounce of fat on them, not someone who has gym membership and overweight lol |
