Best as in Most fun was a 1988 short wheel
Base land cruiser as I drove from
Perth right around to Darwin the Cairns sleeping in it for about 6 weeks. But I got sand in the carburettor and striped it down in the desert and it was never the same after that |

"What has been the best car that you have owned? " hard question.. I'm a bit of a petrol head and best depends on for what.
My supercharged clio phase 1 172 was awesome little car. I had lots of fun on and off the track... same with my metro with a lotus engine.
Best for me though I think has to go to either the 156 v6 alfa.. or my current alfa spider. I adore them and love how they sound, drive and just make me happy...
Although ask my kids and they would say it was the type r scooby... just for rarity, speed, noise and smile factor... but I stand by my best cars being one of the alfas |

Until recently I always drove the little run around car...which served me extremely well for 10 years.
So my favourite car is the current one I have with Mr NBVN which feels modern compared to my previous car.

An old Land Rover Defender. At the same time I had a 170mph motorbike so didn’t need it to be fast, but it was fun to drive and had real integrity - nothing on there except what was absolutely necessary.
The kids loved it as it was an 11 seater so taking friends anywhere was easy. |

Yes, I love driving.
The best so far has to be my classic mini Cooper...so much fun, even if all mini's are temperamental little buggers
I'm hoping I get to drive a few more before I depart this mortal coil, but my mini will be hard to beat. |

The one I bought 20 years ago in March - and still own, my 96 Pontiac Firebird
A close second would be my current daily driver - a 2013 Mondeo Titanium X Sport (ecoboost) |

I love driving and am very proud of my clean license of 24 yrs.
I'm a white van man and a practitioner of bangernomics, subsequently my last vehicle has decided to transition into baked bean cans. . . So I'm between rides at the moment. |

E class Merc
I sold it to a friend five years ago when I started my new job that provided a company car and I almost sob when I see it as it's still going strong over 100,000 miles later
He says it's the best car he's ever owned |

I drive now. I can’t wait for the near future when all cars will, pretty much, drive themselves. I trust my car to help me drive better and more efficiently. |

Tough question....how do we define "best"...?
Fastest was a chevrolet camaro
Most fun to drive was a mini 1275
Most reliable was a rover 620
Most luxurious was a jaguar xj6
Cheapest to run was a hyundai i20
The best all round car i ever owned, (taking all the above into account) would have to be a vauxhall senator 3 litre 24valve.....it was classy |

I'm with you on that, I've had loads of cars I've really enjoyed but only two really stirred my soul. One was a 98 Mini Cooper Sportspack which was my first company car and I loved it.
The other was my Alfa GTV V6 which just made me feel great while driving it.
I rarely feel that way about anh cars now, certain bikes still do it though |

Funny enough it was my mk5 Ford fiesta! This was back in the days of Max power magazines, petrol was cheap & used to go cruising down seafront on weekends .
I had it lowered, an induction kit & all that lol. Didn't have much power but damn I drove it like a stole it & was in love with that car |

Best for what though?
I could list out a variety of different cars I've had and what they were best at.
I'd struggle however to determine my all time favourite.
From a purely practical and longest period of ownership/most miles and smiles I suppose it would actually have to have been my BMW 530D estate. Out of all the cars I've ever owned it's the one car I'd have again without hesitation. |

Pfff - I'm sure most people would think that 600 bhp monster cars and proper off road mini monster trucks made for better conversation - and they'd be right!
Try owning the fucking things and you'll see the reality is a little different. Yes individually they bring alot of joy. But they also bring a huge amount of cost and maintenance!
There is a lot to be said for a sleeper that lasts you 7 years and 250k miles, does 145 mph all day long and still does 40 mpg whilst being able to fit anything you want either inside it, on top of it or dragged behind it! Also very funny burning boy racers off in it! Didn't say it was stock did I? |

Why did you have to go and destroy me by bringing monster trucks into it! Lol you win |

I wasn't trying to win.
And it was a mini monster truck ie a Landover discovery 200 TDI on 35" tyres, widened arches, 4" body lift, snorkel, winch etc. Great for getting stuck in bomb holes 4ft deep of water |

"A bit of a car fan here... I had a Mitsubishi Pinin 4 x 4 once, the tiny brother of the Shogun and that was a real fun vehicle. "
Yay - let's off-road - loved that fast show sketch Jokes aside I also really liked the social side of off-roading. |

currently own three. The best of which is off the road. A Mazda Bongo. More of a van but counts as a car where it matters. easily the most useful and versatile vehicle I have ever owned.
It ran cheaply (note past tense)on cooking oil and had loads of diesel torque. Unfortunately getting too old to keep roadworthy but I could end up regretting that belief.
Moved sideways to a Honda Stepwgn which is also nice and quirky and a lot quieter but takes up more road space versus interior space. ask me in a year how I got on. Still better than any European equivalent.
My faithful runabout is a Suzuki Ignis 1.3 3 door hatchback. rear folds completely flat and there is no cam belt. Lovely friend but not competitive in the Ruhr defending searchlight environment.
Had classics like 'Woody' Morris Traveller which did me well in their time. But nothing modern appeals to me at all, regardless of availability.

No. I'm referring to the ludicrously over powerful lighting on modern cars in the urban environment which has been aided and abetted by the reduction of overhead street lighting to a mere joke.
Unless you are sitting high up and the roads are level you end up with an eyeful of HID headlight beams which don't even reduce in power when dipped.
They call it progress! |
